No Surprise Here: We Can’t Wait to Travel Again
According to a survey of over 3,500 I Prefer Members.
Even in the face of the current COVID-19 crisis grounding domestic and global travel, a recent survey from I Prefer Hotel Rewards points to hope on the horizon for travelers seeking a post-pandemic holiday.
In I Prefer’s Future of Travel Survey, over 3,500 I Prefer Members answered questions related to their travel intentions once the pandemic has subsided. The results revealed in no uncertain terms that travelers today can’t wait for stay-at-home orders to be lifted so they can get out of their homes and hometowns and set out for some place different.
In fact, the data from our Future Travel Survey points toward buoyant optimism when it comes to traveling again, with nearly a fifth of respondents already booking their next trip now for travel within 2020. An additional 54% are also confident in their intent to travel within 2020, meaning nearly three-quarters of our survey respondents are planning on traveling again this year – a great sign for hotels, resorts, air travel, and global travelers themselves.
The most popular future destinations according to respondents are no surprise, with city hotels in major cosmopolitan areas taking the lead, followed closely by beach hotels and resorts. Altogether, 75% of respondents intend to travel with family to one of the following top destinations: Florida, Italy, the United Kingdom, California, France, and Hawaii – indicating global travel from Europe to North America and everywhere in between will make a strong and welcoming comeback once the time is right.
