new management is a problem compared to the previous management, of which the management change occured during the my stay, and the new staff acted as if the previous management communication was a lie or poor ... just very bad attitude.

I just had a wonderful 4-night stay at the Smyth hotel with my family and small dog. The hotel was in the perfect location, walking distance to great restaurants, the west side highway path for beautiful walks with my dog each morning and the subway line. It's also blocks from whole foods and target. The hotel staff was warm and responsive. We didn't get a chance to eat at the restaurant but it looked great - although I would recommend a few more vegetarian options on the menu. We booked the alcove studio suite which had a king size bed and separate space with a pull out sofa. The bathroom had both a shower and bath which was great for the kids. The lobby is small but there is a nighttime lounge that doubles as a common space during the day. We were more than comfortable for our stay. I would definitely recommend and plan to stay again on future trips. I also travel frequently for business and this would be a great option for a business trip as well.

The place looks ok on photos, however, when we check in our room, it felt like a motel, not a fancy hotel that charge so much a night for a 500 square feet room. The bathroom seems remodeled. However, the motion detective light in the bathroom is really annoying. The bathroom have normal lights, but the super bright ceiling light turn on when you get in, bad design, felt like a jail cell. Not a big fan of this place, and overpriced.
