Nemacolin is surrounded by incredibly rich American history. This region harbored territorial disputes between the French and British and many historical figures crossed through, most notably, George Washington and Major General Edward Braddock. George Washington would travel the historic National Road, or as it is known today as U.S. Route 40, and many times engaged in Western Pennsylvania’s real estate, including today’s borough of Perryopolis along Miller Run. Just 10 minutes from the resort sits Fort Necessity. In the summer of 1754, the battle at Fort Necessity was the opening action of the French and Indian War. Many would argue that of all of Washington’s travels it is likely none changed the course of history as Fort Necessity. Attacked by the French, it was the only time Washington surrendered. The war would continue for seven years and lead directly to the Revolutionary War and American Independence. The Townhomes have embraced the colonial heritage of our region with their renovated style and décor and ode to historical figures such as Washington.
