Dining

The Maritime Hotel has two outstanding restaurants, both perfectly contrast and complement one another, and both offer room service if you want to dine in the comfort of your guestroom.

The Maritime Hotel dining

CATCH STEAK – Adjacent to the Maritime Hotel, CATCH STEAK combines the authority of a classic steakhouse with the lighter, brighter style and energetic vibe of a Catch Hospitality Group property. The menu features a curated collection of the world's best cuts and globally influenced dishes for a more approachable 2020 steakhouse experience with fun, shareable, streaming-style service and something-for-everyone appeal.

TAO Downtown – Beneath the hotel, TAO Downtown is dark and sleek, with polished wood, low lighting, Chinese calligraphy, and a 40 ft staircase. The Quan Yin Buddha statue, with its 24 out-stretched hands, gracefully presides over guests. Sip a mango chili martini at the bar before exploring the pan-Asian menu, from crispy bao buns, salmon tartare, and crispy vegetable tempura to banana leaf black bass, Wagyu rib-eye teppanyaki, and tuna sashimi.

Activities at The Maritime Hotel

The Maritime Hotel round windows

Relax with a cocktail next to the fireplace in the lobby during cooler months or the beautiful terrace in the warmer months. Work out in the 24-hour gym, or take one of the complimentary bicycles and explore Chelsea. In the evening, party with celebrities and VIPs at the local hot spot TAO Downtown Nightclub.

Chelsea Market is just across the street from the former Nabisco factory. This industrial space, where Oreos, Fig Newtons, Ritz Crackers, and Mallowmars were once created, is now a foodie paradise. Try the al pastor at Los Tacos No. 1, indulge in lobster on a buttery roll at Cull & Pistol or steamed whole and served simply with butter and lemon at Lobster Place. Taste rich Korean-style ramen at Mokbar and treat your sweet tooth to a PB&J donut at Doughnuttery. Then, walk off the calories with a unique perspective on Manhattan on the High Line, or a stroll through the Whitney Museum.

Location

The Maritime Hotel is on 9th Avenue, where Chelsea and the Meatpacking District meet. It takes five minutes to reach the shops and nightlife of the West Village, while the rest of Manhattan is easily reached via the subway or taxi.

Unique room, Great location, and perfect for those that workout a lot in the room

Great location, it's right next to Chelsea market. Staff are very friendly and curteous. The room is quite small for this price, but the round window glass which is not something you normally would find in other hotel. The restroom is also quite small for a 250Lb traveler. My biggest complaint is the room is cold. The thermostat in my room is not working, even when I switch to OFF, cold air still pour out of the vent. I just cannot shut off the airconditioning. I have to dress up with jacket to keep warm, and it was August 2025.

A Gem in Midtown

Mon Aug 18 2025 10:34:37 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by elliotjkrane

A gem of a hotel well located walking distance to mid-town 5th Avenue, the Whitney, the High Line, the West Village and Meatpacking Districts where restaurants and shopping abounds. It’s not fancy or elegant, the rooms aren’t large, it ain’t The Ritz, but it’s spotlessly clean, very comfortable and quiet and super friendly.

This hotel is a ship cabin gem.

Mon Aug 18 2025 08:55:17 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by Rob06525

This hotel is a gem. The room, while small, feels like a ship cabin. They include a table and two comfortable chairs in the small space next to the porthole window, affording a wonderful view of New York City towards the Hudson. Bathroom is also small but well designed, The gray marble sink counter matches the gray marble surround over the tub/shower. I assume that by requesting a superior room, we got a high floor, which I would recommend as the view is quite nice . Breakfast was great and most people eat in the lobby, but with the table and chair in the room, you could bring something up if you wanted to.
