Formerly home to the National Maritime Union, The Maritime Hotel pays homage to its nautical past with an instantly recognizable façade of round portholes in place of standard windows. Within walking distance of the Meatpacking District’s lively nightlife, this imaginative hotel offers rooms that are cozy, quiet, and never kitschy. Sink into a buttery leather club chair in the wood-paneled lobby alongside a roaring fireplace with a book from the large library. Retreat to one of the 126 guestrooms and look out over the Hudson River through your large porthole window.
Feel like you are in the pulsing heart of Manhattan without ever leaving the comfort of The Maritime Hotel. You will be in the middle of some of the city’s best shopping and art, but if you prefer more culinary indulgences, stroll up to Chelsea Market, where you can gather essentials for a picnic to share while watching the sunset over the Hudson from the High Line. The hotel’s nautical theme has substance as well as style, creating a unique boutique ambiance that makes a truly memorable experience.
The 126 cabin-inspired guestrooms, ranging from Superior Rooms to the Rooftop Penthouse, include five-foot porthole windows overlooking the Hudson River, teak-paneled walls, and a color scheme of blue and white. Enjoy a restful night’s sleep in a custom bed dressed with Mascioni sheets. Relax on a plush couch sipping a soda from the artisanal minibar and freshen up in the rain shower with toiletries by C.O. Bigelow.
Staff are ever-willing to help, from advising the best routes to take on your complimentary bicycles to giving you the insider scoop on the best Chelsea bars and nearby nightclubs. Airy outdoor spaces provide striking views of the iconic Manhattan skyline — wonderful for sitting outside during warmer weather.
The Maritime Hotel has two outstanding restaurants, both perfectly contrast and complement one another, and both offer room service if you want to dine in the comfort of your guestroom.
Relax with a cocktail next to the fireplace in the lobby during cooler months or the beautiful terrace in the warmer months. Work out in the 24-hour gym, or take one of the complimentary bicycles and explore Chelsea. In the evening, party with celebrities and VIPs at the local hot spot TAO Downtown Nightclub.
Chelsea Market is just across the street from the former Nabisco factory. This industrial space, where Oreos, Fig Newtons, Ritz Crackers, and Mallowmars were once created, is now a foodie paradise. Try the al pastor at Los Tacos No. 1, indulge in lobster on a buttery roll at Cull & Pistol or steamed whole and served simply with butter and lemon at Lobster Place. Taste rich Korean-style ramen at Mokbar and treat your sweet tooth to a PB&J donut at Doughnuttery. Then, walk off the calories with a unique perspective on Manhattan on the High Line, or a stroll through the Whitney Museum.
The Maritime Hotel is on 9th Avenue, where Chelsea and the Meatpacking District meet. It takes five minutes to reach the shops and nightlife of the West Village, while the rest of Manhattan is easily reached via the subway or taxi.

The Maritime is the quietest hotel I've stayed at in NYC, and in a great location! Definitely recommend to all my friends. Very close to Chelsea market and the Highline, as well as the west village. Helpful staff and fun, funky vibes make this a very enjoyable stay!

Super comfortable bed and excellent location just one block from the A/C/E. I'd recommend eating at nearby Jack's Wife Freda & Shukette. Also check out the Little Island Park, Genesis House, and the Whitney. I found the Chelsea Market to be a little touristy so we mostly skipped it.

Maritime has been sensitively renovated to preserve its historic character. Charming retro nautical lobby. Small but beautiful rooms feel like ship cabins. Friendly service. Fun neighborhood. Good continental breakfast. I am definitely coming back.

Great location, quiet neighbourhood but close to subway and other attractions. Hotel is very clean and staff are friendly and helpful - room had all the amenities you need for business and leisure, comfortable bed, clean bathroom with walk in shower. Restful room and hotel which is so important when traveling and trekking around the city. Real bonus is being so close the Chelsea Market with probably the best selection street food in NYC.
