On a mile of unspoiled beach, Inn by the Sea provides a AAA Four Diamond award-winning home away from home as you explore the best of the rugged New England coast. If you can pull yourself away from the cozy, crackling fireplace in your guestroom and past the hand-crafted maple furnishings in the lobby, treat yourself to a Sea Salt Stone massage, or another sea-inspired treatment, at the LEED Silver-certified Spa. The farm-to-table Sea Glass restaurant, stunning water views, and personal touches like a daily trip to the ice cream shop in warm weather for a complimentary frozen treat are just a few of the reasons the resort is a regular winner of Condé Nast Traveler Readers' Choice and Travel + Leisure awards.
Begin the day with a relaxing yoga practice. Tour the stunning grounds with the friendly head gardener. Head out on a lobster cruise for two. Walk on the beach at sunset and end the day under blankets by a crackling fire pit, eating s'mores. Inn by the Sea provides the best that New England has to offer.
Swathed in rich crimson and chocolate-colored fabrics, the 62 stylish guestrooms and suites feature cozy fireplaces, local art, and a king-size bed you’ll never want to leave. The Garden and Loft suites are pet-friendly and offer heated flooring, soaking tubs, and splendid views of the garden and ocean. While accommodations in the main building are spacious, the even-roomier Cove and Beach Suites are truly luxurious. The Beach Suites offer two charming bedrooms, a sleep sofa, a dining table for ten, a gas-burning fireplace, a flat-screen television, and unparalleled views of the Wildlife Habitat and Crescent Beach.
The services are as exquisite as the accommodations, with a concierge always ready to book a restaurant or recommend a stay package. Two favorites are the Spa Package, which features an oceanfront breakfast for two and Swedish massages, and the Lucky Catch Package which includes a lobster cruise for two and an oceanfront dinner. With dog-sitting and dog-walking available, canine companions also enjoy a warm welcome.
Enjoy sweeping views of the Atlantic as you dine on delectable seasonal dishes in the ocean-facing dining room or alfresco deck. Whether you’re in the mood for seasonal ingredients from land and sea, vegetarian selections, or something sweet, Inn by the Sea is an unrivaled dining destination.
Whether you want to relax in the heated outdoor pool, work out in the fitness room, or try a morning yoga class, Inn by the Sea takes glorious relaxation and rejuvenation to the next level. Stroll the private boardwalk to Crescent Beach for sunbathing, sandcastles, and fun or to simply stroll along the rugged shore.
Hike 25 minutes to the world-famous Two Lights State Park, and the oldest lighthouse in the area is a 15-minute drive away. Both are great for picnics, hiking, and exploring the craggy coast. If you’d like to venture into the islands of Casco Bay, you can catch a ferry from Portland.
On a mile of beautiful sandy beach, just 15 minutes from the city of Portland, Maine. It’s less than a 10-minute drive to Cape Elizabeth, where you’ll find gift shops, eateries, and the oldest lighthouse in the state.

A perfect quiet getaway with our 2 dogs. This is such a dog friendly place, with lovely accomodations and perfect friendly service. The lounge allows you to have a drink and food with your dog! We have been coming here since 2002, and it never fails to exceed our expectations.

Situated near a popular beach near Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse, this lovely inn is pricey in summer, but a true bargain in winter. We made the most of a post-Valentines Day getaway with tea service and wine in the bar, dinner on site, and a fabulous full breakfast. Room with an expansive view to the horizon was large and spotless. Staff were friendly and efficient. The area is peaceful and scenic.

My husband and I had the absolute best time at the Inn by the Sea this past weekend. We were gifted a one night stay by my in-laws and decided a winter getaway would be just what we need to relax as parents to a soon to be one year old. We spent our entire time at the Inn - walking the beach, enjoying the seafood festival and drinks by the fire. My husband had a deep tissue massage and I had the sea flora hydrating facial at the spa and both were amazing. We spent time in the lounge in the afternoon and had dinner at Sea Glass. We really can’t say enough good things about the food and the service. We kept commenting to each other about how kind everyone was. Our room was also beautiful! We stayed in 403 and it was pristine and had a beautiful view. Perfect for watching the grounds and ocean beyond with a room service breakfast. We absolutely will be back - next time with our son and dog in tow.

The perfect winter getaway! The resort was dog friendly and accommodated our every need. Our room was spacious and very clean. We were allowed to bring our pups to dinner/lunch/breakfast and everyone - guest & staff, greeted them with a friendly attitude. The food was AMAZING and we were lucky enough to attend the Seafood Event held outside amongst the numerous fire pits and ice bar.

We keep returning to the Inn by the Sea because it’s in a gorgeous, quiet location and the amenities are outstanding. During this visit, we borrowed snow shoes to hike down to the beach and indulged in daily s’mores and hot chocolate at the lobby. It’s a family and pet-friendly place. The property is gorgeous but the staff truly shine and make this place exceptional. Everyone is warm and welcoming and always quick to offer a suggestion or recommendation. Thank you for another great vacation!
