Note: Experience is 3, hotel location is 5, hence my rating of 4. Halepuna enjoys a great location—slightly quieter than some neighboring hotels—with an ABC Store on the corner, the third-party UMI restaurant onsite, and a limited-hour bakery next door. The Royal Hawaiian Center and International Market are just a short walk away, with abundant dining options nearby. They provide a beach bag, but it only comes with two towels and no sunscreen or bottled water, unlike some nearby hotels. Marketed as a 4-star property affiliated with Halekulani, the overall experience felt underwhelming and less personal than expected. Hallways are plain, and room doors have more of a 2–3 star appearance rather than a warm, luxurious feel. Service leaned procedural rather than genuinely welcoming, even with IPrefer Hotel Titanium status and booking through Lorraine Travel, which usually brings more personalized touches. Toiletries were basic and made in China, and several amenities (such as lotion, vanity kits, hair covers, and flip-flops) were only available upon request, which detracted from the premium positioning the hotel seems to aim for. The hotel feels caught in an identity crisis—aspiring to be upscale but delivering more of a mid-range impression. It’s still a convenient base in Waikiki with a quieter vibe, but travelers should set expectations accordingly.

Lovely hotel. Close to the beach and the spa was amazing. It is located in a very convenient area with lots of access to shops and restaurants.

Location is great but unfortunately my room was disappointing. Despite paying the same money as my travelling. companion - my room faced a wall/tv and I had to have the privacy screen lowered every day so wasn’t looking across to another building. My friend who paid the same money had a room that looked out to the sea and. did not require the privacy screen lowered every day. Feel should not have been charged the same money for an inferior room. Pool was freezing cold and umbrellas could not be used because of the wind. Service from the staff was very good.

Great staff, very cleanly (including the attached bakery) and has a direct path to the beach. The room felt new and there was no trace of muskiness and or mold - which we have encountered in older hotels on Waikiki. Also, the tsunami struck during our stay and the hotel staff handled everything beautifully!

We had a lovely stay — the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The location is excellent, close to everything we needed. The breakfast was also quite good, with a nice variety to choose from. Would definitely recommend!
