Our Goal for us, was to give our Grandchildren a true taste of what we grew up with on Long Island. So we flew up from Dallas. The GCH IS LOCATED PERFECTLY ! Easy accesss to Jones Beach, Long Beach, Rockville C Bakeries, and NYC- LIRR train station access- a few hundred feet from the Front Door of the Hotel. Food in house is spectacular, and Fantastic local GC Flavors just a 5 minute walk. A Real Vacation - Safe, 4 to 5 Star-A Winner Destination ! Enjoy as We Did. We’ll be back ! Mark and Peg Foster

Horrible experience

Sat Aug 16 2025 12:25:33 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by Deborah J

Absolutely horrible. Stayed at the hotel for a 2 day conference. Front desk staff was horrible. I asked for an early check in because my fight got changed and I got there earlier. Sat and waited over 2hrs. And saw other people coming in and checking in and getting their keys . Mind you I’m sitting in chair directly opposite the front desk in clear view of the staff. So I went walked up and asked if they had a possible estimate on how long I’d have to wait the guy said no give them some more time which at this point would put me at their normal 4pm check-in time. A little while after I saw the lady that took my card information when I initially arrived. I asked her if there were any other rooms available that I was willing to take a double Queen if the King was not available. She will look to tell me “Oh I think your room is ready, they tried calling you on the number you had on file!” I was like what do you mean, I’ve been sitting infront of y’all the entire time since I got here and I have no missed calls. Why didn’t you just say something!!! She didn’t even address it. Fast forward left the hotel to go to the conference. The do not disturb sign was on the door. Got back to my room the sign is not on the door but in the room and my passcode on my luggage is different as if someone tried to unlock it! In addition to that this hotel is not a 4 star it’s very basic and highly overpriced! Room rate was $469 & $659 respectively for the 2nights not inclusive of the state and facility fees & taxes. In total I paid $1324.31 for the most horrible stay in a very average hotel room that advertises themselves to be 4 star with unaccommodating staff. Thankfully nothing was missing from my luggage but maybe it’s only because they were unable to figure out the lock code . Would not recommend and will not be staying here again.

Nice place but could improve. Spot check rooms.

I may be extreme but I use a black light to check everything. I also bring my own sheets and towels. Just wanted to give some context around my review. It may be one of the nicest hotels on Long Island but room quality was ok. Service was very good. Bellhops were extremely nice.

Very disappointed!

Tue Aug 05 2025 11:13:24 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by Sandra H

Let me start by saying that The Garden City Hotel is beautiful from an aesthetic standpoint. However, it seems that because they hold a monopoly in the area — with no other full-service hotels for at least 10 miles — they don’t feel the need to offer genuine hospitality or acknowledge their guests in any meaningful way. I booked a small room block for my wedding, including a suite for myself. Unfortunately, the experience was underwhelming from the start. My nieces, along with two other guests, were placed on a floor designated for guests with dogs — which felt inconsiderate, especially for a wedding block. To make matters worse, two of my guests mentioned feeling unwelcome, saying a manager looked at them as if they didn’t belong. When I checked into my suite, there was no welcome note, no acknowledgment that we were there celebrating a significant occasion — not even a simple “thank you for choosing us.” I’ve traveled extensively, often staying at hotels for far less, and every one of them, regardless of price point, made an effort to make us feel valued. A handwritten note, a small gift, champagne, chocolate-covered fruit — something to say, “We’re glad you’re here.” But here, nothing. In my opinion, The Garden City Hotel coasts on its name and appearance but lacks the warmth and service that makes a hotel truly special. I would absolutely not recommend this hotel, especially for an important occasion like a wedding. Dissatisfied past guest...
