Dining

The Restaurant offers an eye-catching setting for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, while The Bar is a local favorite for afternoon tea and evening drinks. You can always schedule a private dining event as well.

Dining

The Restaurant – With bright colors, red high-backed chairs, and intimate booths, The Restaurant cares about stellar looks as much as it does great food. Dean Butler is the new Executive Head Chef at The Fitzwilliam Belfast. He describes his style as classical but modern, a combination he developed while studying at Portrush Catering College and in a renowned five-star Hotel in London. An advocate for sourcing quality produce from the top suppliers in Northern Ireland, the season's best is reflected in his innovative dishes. Throughout his career, Butler has earned the coveted title of the Institute of Hospitality’s "Chef of the Year" not once, but twice. Enjoy pan-seared sea trout with beetroot or a rump of Irish lamb with smoked yogurt and spiced couscous, all paired exquisitely with a carefully selected wine.

For a more intimate option, business dinners can be held at The Boardroom, a private dining room above the foyer of the hotel that holds up to 30 people. While a glass wall allows plenty of natural light and views of the Belfast bustle, it also maintains a feeling of seclusion.

If you want a lighter meal before heading out, The Restaurant also offers an early evening menu. The grandest meal of the day is breakfast, with a huge selection that delights any palate.

The Bar – Combining hushed Manhattan chic with vibrant oranges and a friendly smile from the staff, The Bar welcomes you and a cheerful crowd of locals to while away the evening over cocktails at the bar or a bottle of wine in a booth. As the lively heart of the hotel, The Bar is the ideal spot for an impressive lunch or dinner of burgers, steaks, risotto, and curries. If you want to indulge in afternoon tea, consider accompanying it with a glass of prosecco or a flamboyant French Martini.

Activities at The Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast

Activities

The Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast offers a 24-hour gym, well-equipped with rowing machines, exercise bikes, and free weights. For an evening of on-site fun, join one of the hotel’s expertly organized theme nights — the murder mysteries aboard the Titanic and in 1920s Charleston are particular favorites.

The Grand Opera House next door shows a grand range of musicals, comedies, and concerts throughout the year. Nearby, as well, are the Botanic Gardens, with their stunning Palm House, dating back to 1840. Before you venture fully into the gardens, be sure to stop by the Ulster Museum at the entrance, which takes you on a journey through the region’s comprehensive history. Meanwhile, as you are in the city that built the Titanic, spend a few hours exploring the impressively regenerated Titanic Quarter, featuring Titanic Belfast’s museum exhibition as its centerpiece.

Down the street from Belfast’s city hall, The Fitzwilliam Hotel Belfast is next to the famous Grand Opera House and just a five-minute walk from Donegal Place, the city’s main shopping street.

Great hotel, we'll be back

Tue Mar 25 2025 14:07:59 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by Tina S

This is a great hotel in a really central location. Less than 5 mins walk from the central station where the 600 bus from the airport stops. 5 minutes from City Hall where you catch the HOHO and coach tours. Staff were friendly and attentive and made us feel welcome. The amenities were great both in the room and around the hotel public spaces. We had a basic executive room which was very spacious and had everything we needed and more. Although we didn't make a coffee it was nice that there was a cafetière and teapot in the room as well as a mini bar with free water - which got replenished daily and extra arrived at the turn down service. The bed and pillows were comfy. We loved the decor everywhere. The shower had good pressure and a nice touch was the tea light candle and matches on the side of the bath. Food in the bar was in generous portions and we enjoyed the 2 for 1 cocktails on Friday evening to kick off the trip. We had breakfast and there was a good choice of buffet and à la carte - reception told us it was cheaper to prebook. The only niggle was there's no power cable or USB point on one side of the bed so you have to charge your phone across the room but this is common in a lot of hotels. We'll definitely make this our base when we visit again

Plenty of space and pampering.

The turn down service is such a nice touch, the chocolates are exactly what you need after a long day on your feet. I also really appreciate the floor space for those of us who prefer to do a few down dogs on our own, rather than going to the hotel gym.

City Centre Luxury, 5 star service

Fri Mar 21 2025 16:49:52 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by HelloKitty236

We travelled to Belfast to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary, and we chose the Fitzwilliam based on its location and we wanted somewhere a bit special considering the occasion. Well, we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the right choice. The warm welcome from the concierge, and the smiley reception team who checked us in, who advised us we had been upgraded to a suite on the 5th floor. We originally had booked a city view king on the 9th floor. The room was just wow. A corner room overlooking the main thoroughfare. Floor to ceiling windows with high quality blackout curtains. High quality furnishings, and a huge en-suite with large walk in shower and a bathtub you could access from the bedroom via sliding doors. Minibar, nespresso style coffee machine and high quality toiletries are all complimentary. Breakfast was included in our room rate. You can opt for a la carte cooked items, and there’s also a plentiful continental option. The staff are superb and on the ball at all times. All produce is locally sourced and you can tell. We had dinner on our anniversary night and opted for the chateaubriand, unfortunately it wasn’t available, but we had the Coute de Boeuf and it was cooked to perfection. Again the service was superb. We cannot thank the staff enough, both front and back of house, for making our 1st anniversary dinner something we will never forget. The bar serve exceptional cocktails, and the staff are incredibly passionate and knowledgeable. Although they may appear pricey however, the cocktails are outstanding. To summarise. If we wanted to find fault, we’d struggle. Honestly this was a truly phenomenal hotel, and what truly makes it 5 star, is the staff and the standards of service. Do not look anywhere else if you are looking for a luxury, city centre experience whether for business or pleasure. You will not be disappointed.

Great place to stay in central Belfast.

We stayed 3 nights on a mini break to Belfast, our first visit. The hotel was well located for the city centre. It was lovely and clean and there were always plenty of staff on hand. Lauren, the Resturant manager was a real source of local knowledge. The concierge was able to book us trips and car hire with no fuss. A really enjoyable stay.

Great breakfast

Tue Mar 18 2025 14:31:27 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by Anna C

Great variety for breakfast, something for everyone. Hotel is centrally placed, which is very convenient. Bed very comfortable. Room lovely and clean if a little tired. Staff very friendly and welcoming and will even go out of their way to make a cocktail that isn’t on the bar menu.
