Escape to Tanzania to experience the wonder of andBeyond Grumeti Serengeti River Lodge. Located within a more secluded part of the Serengeti, guests can traverse the land without crowds as they seek out the area’s majestic lion prides or playful pods of hippos. Guided game drives, nature walks, and hot air balloon rides showcase the Great Migration seasonally as well. The lodge is built along the winding river, inviting the outside in with stone walls, grey tones representative of the hippos that gather nearby, and vibrant hues reminiscent of the fishing communities surrounding the famed Lake Victoria. Enjoy everything from pan-African cuisine around the fire, an infinity pool with a view, and all-natural spa treatments to yoga sessions, community visits, stargazing, birdwatching, and more.

My wife and I stayed at &Beyond Grumeti River Lodge in late July for 4 nights and had one of the most incredible and memorable trips we've ever taken. From the moment we arrived and were enthusiastically greeted… to our Safari drives with Yona (he is incredible) …. to the wonderful Michelin worthy gourmet food and top shelf wines and liquor, it couldn't have been more spectacular. Our room was beautiful and had about a dozen Hippos right outside our terrace in the river every day, and all the staff made us feel at home. We were able to keep following a dozen lions and their cubs playing and the same with a leopard and its cub playing. What we found so impressive was the not only seeing ALL the animals, but also learning all about the environment of the animals and the Serengeti. We had to make some last-minute change to our flights and connections and the General Manager made those immediately and successfully. VERY IMPRESSED. And the &Beyond team set up this safari so successfully and seamless many months before (thanks Cleo). We will never forget this life changing experience.

As usual &Beyond proof that they can provide magical lodges and services in the middle of the bush. Rooms are not rooms but small house with all you can dream about. Food is fantastic and the game drives are against the best we had in Serengeti with the impression to be alone. Spectacular landscapes wit all the Cats you can image (Big lion prides, Chethas, Leopards in trees...)

My wife and I were on a small tour of Africa, which included four nights in the Serengeti at the Grumeti Lodge. We were overwhelmed by how magnificent it was. Not only are the accommodations spectacular and completely in keeping with the terrain and “context“ of the wild places that we were visiting, but the staff was absolutely unparalleled. Our main guides, Wazeri and Yona, were phenomenally knowledgeable about the African bush and led us on magnificent drives twice a day. They were extremely accommodating, willing to adjust the drives to seek out the things we were most interested in. However, the wildlife by its nature is, of course, unpredictable and they were able to be spontaneous and take advantage of any local circumstances to give us the best possible experience regardless of which animals appeared at which times. They found two leopards, the most reclusive and shy of the “big five“, which was a real thrill. They shared with us their extensive knowledge of local cultures, tribes, and history in addition to being literal fonts of knowledge about the wildlife we were seeing. The rest of the staff, to a person, were also phenomenal. The food is exquisite (sometimes we felt like we had dropped into a “food tour“)! All aspects of our stay were unparalleled. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

The setting of this lodge could not be more perfect. It is in the Serengeti so the animal drivers are right at your doorstep. The staff was truly amazing and watching the hippos out front every day was mesmerizing. My only regret is that we only stayed 3 nights. I think I could spend a month there relaxing and getting in tune with nature and admiring the many beautiful animals in the park. We saw very few other vehicles when we were out on game drives. In fact it was an exception to run into another group. This was quite different from other experiences I have had on safari. The rooms in the lodge were outstanding. From the bed overlooking the water and the outdoor plunge pool, to the shower which felt like it was outside, everything was well thought out and available.

There are not enough words to describe me and my family’s memorable stay at andBeyond Grumeti. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted and welcomed like family by the jovial staff. Impeccably built and tastefully decorated, you feel as if you are living amongst the wildlife (and you are, as the guest area and rooms surround a lively hippo pool which is always a sight to see). The rooms are relaxing and contemporary with abundant natural light, comfortable bedding, and your own private plunge pool. Unwinding at the end of a long day was always easy in rooms like these! Dining was an absolute treat at Grumeti. Meals were fresh, healthy, and carefully curated so that you always had something different to try. After game drives, it was always nice to come back to the circular bar in the guest area, grab a refreshing drink, and discuss about the sights that were seen. Game drives were an absolute highlight of the stay. Waziri and Yona were the two guides that accompanied us. Their knowledge, passion, and positive attitudes always made for enjoyable time. With how secluded Grumeti is, we were lucky enough to feel as if we were seeing the wildlife in our own private reserve. The twice-daily game drives allowed for us to see an abundance and diverse set of wildlife. Our 4 day stay was magical from beginning to end, which made it even more difficult to leave! To each and every person at Grumeti (Chris, Joseph, Patrice, Daniel, Frank, Ally, Juma, Waziri, Yona, and many others), thank you for making our experience in the Serengeti unforgettable!
