Its a beautiful facilty in a great location and the staff is very friendly and kind. We stayed for 4 nights/5 days in a traveler's suite and had another nice room for our family of 5. For what we paid per night, the rooms were smaller than expected and while there are thermostats which make you believe there is air conditioning, which is also stated on their website, there is no air-conditioning, only a fan setting to blow the air. Even on 16c, the temperature stays the same and it is pretty much the same throughout the entire building, even warmer in the bathrooms. During our extended stay it was about 87 to 90f outside and coming inside to the room was hard to cool off and it was hard to sleep at night. We asked the front desk on our second morning and they said something about a law and put a stand-up fan in one of our rooms. There is no top sheet on beds, only the thick comforter which also doesnt help when there isn't AC. The door to one of our rooms did not lock when shut and can be opened at anytime by anyone. We didnt want to complain and felt very safe in the hotel, so we didn't worry about it. The breakfast staff were mostly friendly but the breakfast food was not good. Very few options, the exact same every single morning which got old after the second breakfast. Hard to get them to give you a cup of coffee and the last day the cucumbers were not edible. It's hard to leave a negative review, especially when the staff was friendly and after being in such a beautiful town, but for the price you pay to stay in this hotel, management could do so much better. I would never have reserved knowing there was no AC in the month of June. But I am thankful for the kind staff and I k3now that those things are outside of their control.

Currently in the middle of a major reconstruction, no lobby during renovation, converted a meeting room into an interim lounge with water & coffee but no service, rooms without a view due to scaffolding, no curtains in the room, construction workers can look unprotected into the room; waited for my room until 17:00. Eventually received a cocktail voucher for the Rooftop Bar from a friendly and committed young colleague at the reception. Young guy managing the entrance to the rooftop bar then messed it up again, arrogant attitude, then needed to go back and forth to check available seats in the bar, which appeared to be a bit more than half full. Drink was ok. Nuts were offered in an open bowl. Other hotels do this more hygienic. Was reminded of my experience in the rooftop bar from the late afternoon when I came back after dinner and loud basses were heard until late night. Would give them another chance after they finish their renovation but currently wouldn’t recommend staying there.

We paused in Geneva for a couple of days on our way to Meribel, just to take the edge off the jet-lag. In deciding where to stay, it really wasn't clear which side of the lake would be best for us, and we ended up thinking that whichever side we chose, we'd be spending plenty of time on the other side anyway. And that's exactly what happened. The Metropole is a great location opposite a park and close to the old town. Plenty of cafes nearby. Most surprising aspect was the road noise -- there wasn't any.

The hotel is right at the center and next to the lake. Some rooms are refurbished. Overall, the hotel is rather old fashioned and price per night does not justify the service or location. Roof top bar has a good view but limited menu card. Rooms with lakeside view are noisy. Personnel is friendly and speaks English as well.
