Food Is amazing, however there should be more variety when choosing evening meals. The other issue is the funicular was occasionally broken, sometimes it worked, sometimes it did not. There was a beautiful view and the rooms were luxurious.

My wife and I spent two nights at the Hotel Château Gütsch in October and could not have been more pleased. The location is great, the views are fantastic (from our room, the bar, the restaurants, everywhere), our room was very cozy and comfortable, and the service was perfect. Everyone is charming and helpful as can be. The funicular takes you down the hill and just a short walk to all the sights and restaurants in the old city. A perfect place to stay when visiting this charming city.

We stayed at several top hotels during our trip this fall. Hotel Château Gütsch was our favorite. Amazing view, comfy beds, a great restaurant and a very unique private funicular down to old town Lucerne. I would like to make a special acknowledgment to one of the employees. A young man from Jamaica went above and beyond during our visit. My wife had a cold, he enquired about how she felt. He went out of his way to make her a special lemon and honey drink. He did not have to, but you can tell he really likes people and cares. More people in the hospitality business need to have his attitude.

This hotel rises above Lucerne and overlooks Lake Lucerne where you can access the hotel by taxi from the train station or by using the fenacular from the street after catching a 2 or 12 bus from the station. We were greeted by the concierge who colllected our case and were given a glass of champagne on arrival. The hotel room was spacious with windows that overlook Lake Lucerne. The bed was very comfortable, the long sofa a good addition and bathroom just beautifully appointed. The hotel restaurant is both superb and audacious with the right service at the right time. A big thank you to Anna and Michael in the restaurant and also the receptionist on arrival as they are just wonderful members of staff with great service skills. Such a property which we look forward to coming back.
