We originally booked an apartment but were informed shortly before arriving that they had changed our reservation due to maintenance at the hotel. We were provided with a complimentary continental breakfast and free parking as compensation for the inconvenience. Now, I will say that Miriam and Claudia were both lovely but unfortunately their customer service does not make up for our experience. We had to wait nearly an hour after the check in time to check in. After being told our room was ready, it wasn’t. We also had someone’s fake eyelashes glued to the table and magazine. The kitchen area is lacking, the quality is far below other 4* hotels in the area. Hotel guests were smoking in the pool, not just the pool are, on balconies and also smoking weed. The pool itself is incredibly small for the size of the hotel, and there is supposed to be a limit of how many people are there at any given time, this is not enforced and neither is the no smoking or glass around the pool. Literally an accident waiting to happen. Being woken up by drunk guests at 3am and 4am banging on our door for both nights we stayed was truly enraging. The soundproofing does not work between the walls, but it does block noise from outside. The continental breakfast is a muffin/croissant and a coffee/orange juice. Again, very lacking compared to other hotels. The hotel has the potential to be 4* but, and I cannot stress this enough, downgrading someone and not acknowledging the difference in cost is unacceptable. That should be refunded without hesitation, and without multiple emails and a meeting with the manager. Genuinely, I think there were too many guests for the amount of staff and services available.

The room - we had a one bedroom suite with “sofa bed” - this was really a sofa you can sleep on and although comfortable was really short! They seem to have not quite got the kitchen right. There was a microwave, you need a degree to work. There was a two ring hob, but no pans. The fridge was ok, but had no ice box. The Nespresso coffee machine was a lovely touch. There was no toaster, although the aforesaid microwave “might” have had oven functionality - who knows?! A/C - seemed effective but impossible to use! There was an iron, safe and toiletries. Rooms cleaned daily to an excellent standard. The pool - really a plunge pool but the views are unparalleled. There are only about 10 loungers and another 15 deckchairs. It does get busy! On the whole people are respectful and don’t reserve loungers. The restaurant - a limited menu but fabulous food The staff - they were all fabulous and so helpful from room service to running the gauntlet with stroppy clients who wanted to reserve sunbeds. The area - slightly out of town but near to two tram stops which take you into Plaça de Gràcia Beaches nearby are undergoing construction but still accessible.

My family and I spent 6 nights at Tembo Barcelona and had an excellent experience. The room (2 bedroom apartment with kitchenette) was spacious, bright, modern and clean with a large balcony. Comfortable beds and good amenities. We found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. No problems with getting extra towels, coffee, water, etc. The pool area is a bit small but we didn't find it to be too bad and the view is unbeatable. We had a couple of minor issues with the suite like no electrical outlets to plug the coffee machine or kettle into in the kitchen and we did feel like the continental breakfast was a bit stingy (one pastry, sandwich or muffin each) but these are very minor things that didn't significantly impact our stay. I have read other reviews with concerns about the neighbourhood but honestly, we didn't think it was bad at all around the hotel. We used the Maresme/Forum metro station and the Campus Diagonal/Besos tram stop and the walks to and from were perfectly fine. There is a very clean Condis and an excellent cafe (El Capricho) right next door and the hotel is a 5 minute walk from the massive Diagonal Mar shopping centre and probably ~15 minutes walk from Llevant Beach (or a short subway trip to Mar Bella or Bogatell). The location is a bit outside of central Barcelona but the transit system (and cab services) are so good that it's not much of an issue. Less than 30 minutes to Placa Catalunya via metro, for example. Another nice thing about this location is that it is close to Rambla Del Poblenou which is a much less touristy area than La Rambla/Placa Catalunya with lots of great shops and restaurants. I think one might potentially run into neighbourhood issues if you ventured much east of the hotel but around the hotel and anything to the west seemed fine to us. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at Tembo Barcelona and would book this property again.

Our family enjoyed our stay at Tembo Barcelona. The hotel is only one year old (as of July 2025), and everything looks in good condition. The rooftop pool and bar/restaurant were especially scenic. We appreciated having a self-service laundry room with washers and dryers. The 2-bedroom suite that we booked was spacious for a family of 4, and included a full kitchen, which allowed us to do some light cooking. Overall an excellent stay, and we would definitely choose this hotel again. The only negative is that the location is a bit far away from the city center. Although the hotel is close to the ocean, we did not see a good nearby beach.
