I’ve been to Spain several times to major cities and have stayed at a lot of 4 and 5 star boutique hotels. The Monument Hotel was by far my favorite as a solo traveler in all of Spain. Firstly, it was located in the best location on Passeig de Grácia and walking distance to Casa Batlló and Casa Milà. The welcome was warm and efficient and the smaller, yet luxurious hotel was the perfect size for my taste. There is a beautiful Michelin rated restaurant on site and roof top terrace with bar, pool and access to gym. On the lowest level is a small spa including a sauna and steam room. The buffet breakfast is highly recommended and serves delicious made to order hot breakfast and a delightful array of healthy choices including; fruits, yogurts, meats, cheeses, nuts, seeds, salad, breads, pastries and more. This buffet takes place in the Glass Restaurant on the terrace which lives up to its name. The panoramic views are especially very nice from the perimeter of the seating areas. The breakfast staff pampers you with a smile and makes sure your coffees are hot and that water and fresh-squeezed OJ is refreshed often. I fell in love with my Junior Suite room as it was stylish, comfortable, quiet and possessed a perfect layout with pleasing aesthetics and design features including brick walls. The starry overhead panel above the bed was a real treat and the dark thick curtains blocked out any ray of light, keeping it dark and cool while I slept. The mini-bar included some complimentary items like bottled water, sparking water, small chocolate bars and popcorn. It was also well stocked with a variety of sodas, juices, alcohol and other snacks for purchase. The shower was wonderful with its rainfall shower-head at the perfect water pressure. The bathroom never was fogged up once on the mirrors, even with hot showers. Lasty, I really appreciated how cold the A/C was and that I could control the thermostat to my preference at all times. That is very important to me as a traveler, especially during the summer months. I am hoping to visit Barcelona again in the future and come back with my family to enjoy this wonderfully, elegant hotel.

I stayed at a hotel in a prime location on Carrer de Gràcia in Barcelona. I had initially considered booking the Mandarin Oriental, but after reading reviews, I ultimately settled on this property due to its appealing reviews, reasonable pricing, and the added benefit of being an “I Prefer” Titanium member. Alas, the experience reconfirmed a familiar truth: the calibre of a hotel generally mirrors its price. This establishment is best described as a modest boutique hotel — pleasant, yes, but it falls short of the luxury bracket. On a brighter note, the majority of the staff were cordial, with the concierge demonstrating genuine warmth and exemplary service. Regrettably, my overall impression was somewhat diminished by Bianca at the front desk, whose approach was not only unaccommodating but, on occasion, positively combative. It was largely due to this unfortunate encounter that I found myself awarding three stars rather than four or five.

Can’t say enough about the Monument Hotel! It was AMAZING! The staff was wonderful - especially Xavi and Jorge, always so helpful with any questions/requests. The breakfast was delicious! Verbena was delicious for dinner! The pool was perfect for a morning dip before going out for the day. We had a fabulous stay and can’t wait to return!
