A truly magical experience

In just 30 mins, within a 2km radius from the lodge, we saw the big 5! Our ranger Lucky, with our guide Melusi, were exceptional in finding all these magical creatures. A hippopotamus out at night, star gazing, African Rock Python, black Mamba, the most colourful birds, crocodiles, and the cherry on top was an actual live cheetah kill right in front of us. Lucky then went on to take us on this majestic walk through the most magical sand forest, felt unreal to witness nature's absolute beauty. To say this experience was magical is an understatement. Chef Cebi had the perfectly crusted the most scrumptious menu, I still dream of that pomegranate Impala chops. The most delectable cakes at high tea (high tea is every afternoon) and the most crunchy Choc chip and vanilla cookies at breakfast. All they do is feed you with the most delectable treats, savoury and sweet. Thank you for making our stay so special. Definitely coming back again.

Big Five in so many ways!

This was a trip of a lifetime. Everything from the safari guides to the accommodations was exceptional! The staff made us feel like family, the food and lodge were 5 star quality, but nothing beats seeing the animals up close in their natural habitats and learning so much about how they live. Zulu village tour was a great additional experience!! We will definitely be back!

Great game viewing, even better service

Rock lodge was all around amazing, we cannot say enough good things about it! We went for our honeymoon and they made sure it was extra special. Our guide Lucky and our tracker could literally find everything, we saw the Big 5 on our first 2 drives. Chef was simply perfection, all of her food was some of the best we have ever had and Ndu was always on top of everything and providing things before we even had to ask. Anchen, the lodge manager, went above and beyond (literally) everything we ever expected. Highly recommend rock lodge to anyone visiting, especially couples who prefer a more intimate setting.

Went for a few nights to celebrate our 27th Wedding Anniversary. The lodge was wonderful and exclusive. Our guides were excellent. Lucky was probably one of the most receptive guides I have been with. The food and service at the lodge was top notch too

Lovely, Cozy Safari Lodge with Views

Very good time at this, our fifth safari we've been on in South Africa and Botswana. Phinda (pronounced "Pinda) Rock Lodge is relatively small, which makes it more cozy and produces some of the reviews regarding smallness. We prefer smaller and quieter, although this results in somewhat less in food etc offerings. This is a notch below Lion Sands and some larger safari lodges, but it made up for with the closeness and coziness. The dining was very good and the night we had our rooftop dinner was wonderfully romantic. Our suite was very nice. Game drives were excellent with lots to see. We did not do any added trips or beach excursions, but heard the Zulu village was interesting and fun. We did not take our Malarone, tho we saw one mosquito early in our trip (November) and this is a borderline area so beware; afterwards, the one of us who is a regular mosquito victim used spray. Reading the negative views, they're excessively harsh. This is an enjoyable safari lodge in which to stay with very nice staff, trackers, and rangers.
