Oslo's Gold-and-Glass Crown Jewel

Trip Advisor RatingPowered By TripAdvisor
LEGEND

Steal away to a stylish stay at THE THIEF, Oslo’s gold-and-glass crown jewel on its city-meets-sea peninsula that has transformed from an islet getaway for local bandits to an ultra-trendy arts district. This luxe Norwegian seaside gem feels like a chic art museum with works from renowned artists such as Jeff Koons and Andy Warhol sharing space with futuristic video art.  If that doesn’t heist your heart, the stylish rooms, nearby beach, rooftop terrace, and pampering spa treatments will.

•    2018 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List and 2017 Readers' Choice Award-Winner
•    All 116 rooms boast exclusive art, private balconies, and floor-to-ceiling windows
•    The incredible spa offers distinctive treatments, saunas, steam rooms, a pool, and a Turkish hammam
•    Enjoy delicious dining, cocktails at the chic bar, and Oslo fjord views from the rooftop terrace
•    Walk to Aker Brygge’s waterfront promenade and the Astrup Fearnley Museum next door
•    THIEF Activities offers classic Norwegian experiences like cross-country skiing and toboggan runs

THE THIEF is not your average art hotel. Its permanent collection was curated by the former director of Norway's National Museum of Art and its lounge hosts concerts, fashion shows, and book launches. The guest experience is equally exceptional. Breathe in the fresh sea air. Take in the stunning fjord views. Work out at the gym. Get a decadent Moroccan clay spa treatment and then dine on fresh catches and weekend brunch buffets. Explore Oslo and make memories no one can take away.

Modern hotel in the harbor area

Sat Aug 09 2025 07:50:11 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by MrPKI

It is about a 20 minute walk to the main part of the city, but it has a lot of nice restaurants and modern atmosphere in the harbor area. It was very comfortable and modern and has a popular roof top bar for the evening cocktails.

The Thief - great location but disappointing facilities and service.

Mon Aug 04 2025 01:43:20 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by AndrewXFarrell

Great location, excellent room, but at the time we visited neither the ground floor bar nor the main restaurant were open, despite being advertised. Unfortunately we were overcharged in the rooftop restaurant and had to go to reception twice before it was corrected. Some advertising not clear about extra charges for swimming pool and sauna.

Coolest place in town!

Coolest hotel I have stayed in a while. Great vibe, beautiful and luxurious rooms with a really cool vibe. Amazing bathrooms and amenities. The staff is super friendly and professional, great tips to enjoy the city without offering you the most expensive stuff in town. Roof top bar is also very cool. The location is amazing, not right in the city center but close enough in what seems a new local neighborhood. Loved it! Stay here!

Weekend Break At The Thief

Fri Jul 25 2025 07:02:14 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by PaulJ593

Great hotel in a great location. Hotel is modern and on the waterfront in a nice part of the city. Rooms are modern and well maintained. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of dishes. There is a great rooftop bar with good views over the city and harbour. Would recommend for a nice city break.
