The worse reviews of the hotel refer to the musty smell. Unfortunately, I had not filtered for the bad reviews beforehand. I had been impressed by the better reviews about the good view. A big mistake. The mold-like smell was too dominant. We stayed in 9 hotels from 2 to 5 stars in Japan this year. The Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu was by far the worst.

Nice hotel right on top of the Shibuya Crossing in the heart of Tokyo. The breakfast each morning was good and the hotel was withing easy walking distance of many attractions. The room was clean and stocked daily.

If you want a hotel close to everything in Shibuya this is it. Super centric to everything, train station, places to eat, everything you can think of, right outside the hotel. Only downside is that the room is in the smaller side, other than that, perfect. If I were to return will stay again in this hotel 100%.

The hotel’s central location, right by the Shibuya Crossing, is great! Transportation around Tokyo is incredibly easy, with Shibuya Station just steps away, giving access to multiple train and subway lines. The hotel was clean, and while the rooms were on the smaller side (as is common in Tokyo) and slightly dated, they had all the essential amenities for a comfortable stay. Breakfast was served on the top floor, where we enjoyed views of the city skyline. The breakfast selection was varied catering to both Western and Japanese tastes. You couldn’t ask for a more central or convenient location in Tokyo – perfect for exploring the city!

Perfect location , service and amazing breakfast. The view from the breakfast is amazing , you can also spot Shibuya crossing for the elevators ! Room is a little small with a big single bed but perfect for one person. On the building complex they have a gourmet fair and a big Daiso.
