Rising high above the streets of downtown Tokyo, The Capitol Hotel Tokyu combines traditional architecture and contemporary design to a dazzling effect. In the two-story lobby, slender wooden beams echo temple and shrine interiors, while a large-scale Ikebana flower arrangement hints at the original art collection within. Guestrooms are designed to customize your space with movable shoji panels; the Carju Rajah Tiado spa and huge indoor pool invite you to unwind; and five bars and restaurants entice you with a tour of the very best modern Asian cuisine.
The beams in The Capitol Hotel Tokyu's lobby are the work of award-winning architect Kengo Kuma, a fitting introduction to a hotel that is filled with art. There is work here from some of 20th-century Japan's great masters, including subtle suibokuga by Toko Shinoda and sculpture by Sofu Teshigahara.
Each of the 251 guestrooms and suites at The Capitol Hotel Tokyu effortlessly blends minimalist Japanese traditions with modern style. Shoji paper screens can be moved around as you please, making larger rooms fully customizable, while 19 ft / 6 m windows offer superb views of Tokyo. Interiors are refined and calming with natural wood fittings and traditional artwork. Choose a club room or suite for access to the private Library Lounge, and for the ultimate VIP experience, book one of the suites on the upper floors with panoramic views of the Tokyo skyline.
All guests can order from the deluxe room service menu, and the well-connected concierge team can arrange trips, tickets, and restaurant bookings with ease. If you are in Tokyo for work, the business center offers special services such as airport limousine bus reservations, while meeting rooms offer a total 9,418 sq ft / 875 sq m of space.
With three restaurants, two lounge-style bars, and its own patisserie, The Capitol Hotel Tokyu's dining options range from a simple morning coffee to sophisticated five-course dinners. Choose from traditional Asian favorites, decadent desserts, and a cocktail list prepared by expert mixologists.
Treat yourself to a detoxing massage or signature facial at the sophisticated spa. Head to the fitness suite to work out in a gym with panoramic city views, swim in the 65 ft / 20 m indoor pool, and relax in the sauna or spacious Jacuzzi. With a barber on-site, The Capitol Hotel Tokyu has everything you need to prepare for a day of exploring the city.
Outside the hotel, the beautiful Hie Shrine, dating back to the 15th century, is just steps away. The famous Nagatacho Kurosawa restaurant, celebrated for its handmade soba noodles, is also in proximity. Alternatively, take a tour of the National Diet Building, where Japan's two legislative houses sit. For culture, stroll to the National Theater of Japan — about a 15-minute walk away — or jump in a taxi to the National Museum of Modern Art and the Science Museum. Major attractions such as the Tokyo Tower and Tokyo Disneyland are also easy to reach by taxi.
The Capitol Hotel Tokyu is in Akasaka, a commercial and residential area of Tokyo close to the government center in Nagatachō and renowned for the nightlife of the Roppongi district. Nearby attractions include the Hie Shrine and National Diet Building.

The welcoming starts from the driveway to the reception and to the room. Despite the heat due to the summer weather, the hotel's air conditioning is set at a good temperature. It is not too cold either. Check-in was smooth including sharing of hotel facilities information. It's important to know as they have a few rules to follow. Breakfast was an interesting experience. You have an option to choose a buffet or set menus. Several subway lines are accessible from the basement. So convenient! For departure, they knew I had departure transportation arranged, my luggage had already been placed in the taxi after doing my check-out. Good job!

My family had a wonderful 5 night stay at this truly phenomenal hotel. The Capitol Hotel Tokyu was 5 star in every way. Highlights included beautifully appointed rooms (spacious and stylish, great views, very comfortable beds and incredible shower), great fitness centre, indoor pool, spa and exceptional buffet breakfast. The location is perfect in the centre of Tokyo with two subway stations located directly beneath the hotel - from here you can quickly access Ginza, Harajuku, Shabaka, Rappongi and Shinjuku all reasonably short train trips away. Above all, I want to compliment the service which was truly incredible. Every staff member went out of their way to be kind and helpful to us. For example, I lost my iPad on Shinkansen train and the concierge worked for several days to track it down and get it couriered back from Osaka! My son has special dietary needs helped find him some gluten free food for breakfast. A huge thank you to everyone at the Capitol for a sensational stay.

This was a top of the line hotel in all respects. I highly recommend it. Breakfast buffet is excellent. Rooms are lovely and service is great.

It’s actually a very nice hotel, good location and comfortable rooms. That said, I am taking off stars for a few reasons. Firstly, the offerings at the overpriced breakfast are just too limited. Secondly, there was no recognition of my iPrefer status at all. Thirdly, there is smoking allowed in the bar which is really tough for non-smokers. There is no pool or spa area so amenities at the hotel are also limited. All in all I have found the five star experience disappointing in Japan. it’s all very regimented and there is no room for personal touch or attention. Would I stay here again - probably if on business - but I will try a few other hotels first.

The service in the 5 star hotel is of some other level. It is centrally located, has its own subway station and there are many stores and restaurants in its vicinity. The room is comfy and cozy, view is breathtaking and taking a shower is like standing under a waterfall.
