Rising high above the streets of downtown Tokyo, The Capitol Hotel Tokyu combines traditional architecture and contemporary design to a dazzling effect. In the two-story lobby, slender wooden beams echo temple and shrine interiors, while a large-scale Ikebana flower arrangement hints at the original art collection within. Guestrooms are designed to customize your space with movable shoji panels; the Carju Rajah Tiado spa and huge indoor pool invite you to unwind; and five bars and restaurants entice you with a tour of the very best modern Asian cuisine.

  • Try a Vital Spa — a salt bath combined with a low-temperature mist sauna — or get groomed for dinner in the gentlemen's barber room
  • All 251 guestrooms and suites feature sliding shoji screens
  • Discover the delicacy and precision of kaiseki cuisine at Suiren, led by master chef Minoru Tsuge
  • Admire contemporary Japanese art throughout the property, including calligraphy and Ikebana flower arrangements
  • Work out in a 15th-floor gym overlooking the city or relax in the Jacuzzi or 65 ft / 20 m indoor pool

The beams in The Capitol Hotel Tokyu's lobby are the work of award-winning architect Kengo Kuma, a fitting introduction to a hotel that is filled with art. There is work here from some of 20th-century Japan's great masters, including subtle suibokuga by Toko Shinoda and sculpture by Sofu Teshigahara.

Great location, great service

The service in the 5 star hotel is of some other level. It is centrally located, has its own subway station and there are many stores and restaurants in its vicinity. The room is comfy and cozy, view is breathtaking and taking a shower is like standing under a waterfall.

Zen Heaven

Thu Feb 13 2025 15:42:44 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by enofile1

After our flight was delayed five hours in Minneapolis, we arrived in Tokyo anxious to reach our hotel. Unfortunately, the digital entry at Haneda was disorganized, and our taxi didn't pull up to the Capitol Hotel until 20 hours after our departure from Milwaukee. As I crawled out of the back seat, a cadre of smiling attendants greeted me, ready to escort us to registration. Our luggage was whisked away as the taxi driver bowed in my direction. Walking into the tranquil expansive lobby, my stress disappeared as I took in the gorgeous water feature, sumptuous fabrics, and sultry lighting. From airport hell, I was transported to zen heaven. The attendant at Registration was helpful and kind, updating us to a corner, deluxe king room. Two lovely women continued to escort us to our room on the 21st floor, advising me the luggage will arrive soon. One of the charming ladies asked for my room key and opened the door to a large and beautiful room, with fantastic night views of the Tokyo skyline and the Hie shrine. She explained how to raise and lower the shades with the remote, how to maintain the perfect temperature, how to work the TV, where the robes and pajamas were. I bowed continuously, mispronouncing harigato (thank you) a dozen times. My spouse and I plopped down on the enormous bed with a sigh of relief. With a huge bathroom, fluffy towels, a view of the city from the shower/tub room, and a Toto toilet that not only cleanses and warms, but raises its lid greeting me every time I walked into the toilet room, the Capitol Hotel is the epitome of luxury. Three restaurants, a bar, and a sophisticated location help add some caché. Located at the basement level are convenient subway stations that can whisk you to other parts of the city without getting your hair wet. The Japanese Congress is next door to the Capitol Hotel, hence the name, and thus your safety is assured. While expensive as hell, I was able to procure a decent rate by shopping around and allowing my dates flexibility. The Capitol Hotel of Tokyo is one of the nicest hotels I have ever experienced.

Only stay if the price is right

Fri Jan 17 2025 19:41:31 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by michaeljinnyc

Rooms were bit dated and small, but zen and Japanese. Service inconsistent, some were amazing and some of my phone calls has been quite unpleasant. Room service was delicious. Location central but hectic. Entrance can be confusing. Take cabs. Soundproofing in the rooms are not the best. No bluetooth speakers in the room. Good value at certain dates, if not definitely better choices like the Okura and Shangri-la in its price range

Luxury experience that was great for the entire family! Rooms were unreal- property and staff were fantastic. If you want a five star experience without spending $2000 a night, this is a home run. The restaurants were also delicious overall I cannot wait to get back here again.
