This is the kind of place that convinces you it’s cool. Then you find yourself standing in a colorless sunset.

You should not believe what can be red on their web site. The website is really persuasive. When you leave the place you ask yourself: why did I fall for it. The picturesque panorama is true. We really enjoyed it with a nice breakfast. But the positive part of the story ends here. Upon arrival: Valet parking means that they put your car somewhere in their parking lot and if you request your car later you vill receive the key and you should be looking for your car. Nice in a 5 star hotel? Our Villa (garden Villa) was some hundred meters from the reception but I have to go back for the key of the safety box. The receptionist has forgotten to give it to me upon our check-in. In a 5 star hotel. The room: It was clean but poorly furnished. It turned out the first night that 2 lamps couldn’t be switched off. The guy who arrived to fix this issue was only able to remove one the bulb from one of the lamps. We couldn’t sleep in one of our room because of the lighting. The next day we were invited to note in an E-mail that the maintenance staff was working only day shifts. The cost of 1 night was roughly 900 eur. Nice, isn’t it? Pools: We could use only the “Family” pool with our 10, 12 years old sons. It is at the bottom of a slope 200-250 meters uphill to the main building. No guard, no staff at all and we couldn’t find a toilet at the pool. Nobody was taking care of the rubbish and dishes left behind by the guests. Moreover it turned out at the pool that we can pick up the towels at the reception. Sign for the towels and when leaving the pool area you are required to return the towels to reception under threat of being charged a fee for failure to return. Unbelievable in a five star hotel. Moreover one day the pool was full of adults who were drinking cocktails, beer and wine in the pool. It was really disturbing us. Restaurant, dinner: Average and overpriced food and wine, some evenings long waiting time. Do not take the tasting menu! 4 courses and all dishes can be ordered a la carte. If you order the tasting menu it costs 90 euros and all courses are max half portion!!! Not only me but my 12 years old son remained hungry! If you order it a La carte it costs 100 euros but you will receive a normal portion. Nice business to the hotel. On the other hand the view was nice. We went out for dinner to nice small restaurants after 2 disappointing dinners. Believe me they had better food for far more reasonable price. The Gym: Big, big disappointment. I went in and left it. Very poorly equipped. Since we spend every year at least one week in Toscana we are relaxed that it is far from the best of Toscana. There are plenty of places with far more professional infrastructure and far better food and wine. Sometimes 3 star castello offers higher level and nicer service than this hotel.

Elegance & Luxury

Absolutely beautiful grounds- need to start there. The view overlooking the Tuscany hills while eating our breakfasts was spectacular. My husband and I stayed here and the service was top notch as well. Nicoletta gave us a tour of the grounds upon arrival and she couldn’t be nicer. The pool was so relaxing and also overlooked stunning views. My only regret was not staying here longer.

How Management can take a 5 Star resort to a 3 Star operation.

Mon Jun 23 2025 10:17:23 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by Arnold M

The property is beautiful. The staff is professional and attentive. The food is average. The menu needs revamping. But this “5 Star” is managed like a 3 Star. They absurdly charge for bed time small bottles of water in the room. They state it’s your option. Pay or no water. To receive towel for the pool you are required to go to Reception (about 500 ft. from the pool). Sign for the towels and when leaving the pool area you are required to return the towels to Reception under threat of being charged a fee for failure to return. The turndown service is basically non existent. In the 6 days at the hotel there were 2 turndown services. We have travelled the world for over 50 years…..this is not worthy of 5 Stars. Management ultimately responded to our critique with mindless and offensive excuses totally dismissive of the issues.

The details unfortunately don’t make this a 5*

Wed Jun 11 2025 06:46:19 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by marcojacobs1503

Starting with the positives, the hotel is extremely well maintained, beautiful and deserves 5* from the location and looks. That said, it’s not 5* stars when it comes to service, breakfast, pool service (towels need to be picked up at the reception against signature). There’s no free water in the room and water at the pool is sold in cans. Prices for the wine are a bit questionable (12€ per glass for wine that they sell for 15€ a bottle in the shop; a coke for 7€). Considering the price per night, it’s a bit stingy.

Exceptional location with many amenities but not delivering in line with our expectations

Sun Apr 27 2025 16:28:18 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by StefanoAlbarosa

Location is exceptional and personnel is helpful. This was a family meeting with all ages (from 2 to 85) involved so a challenging task for any Hotel. Given the many “hidden” gems more should be done by the personnel to explain/show around the resort amenities to allow a full experience of what’s on offer. Rooms are nice but do not provide the confort you can expect from a 5*L resorts (in our case noisy and inefficient ventilation and windows blinders that would not lock). This is more comparable to a 4* Country House. The morning breakfast was the highlight of the stay with an excellent full buffet with helpful and kind staff. The Restaurant turns into a very restrictive and rigid setting for the (compulsory) evening meal. We have been restricted to maximum 7 table seatings so we could not eat together, as we have been done in every other night at local restaurants/trattorias. We could not get the degustation menu as this option was restricted to when the full table ordered the same (which makes it impossible if you have a vegetarian guest at the table). Whilst the “rituals” the “rigidity” and the price matched what you would expect from a 2-3 star Michelin Restaurant the level of service (> 50 minutes waiting time) and food quality is nowhere close. Borgo Scopeto nature is the one of a beautiful Country Side retreat and everything should be set to make you feel comfortable and easy going. The evening meal was to this end a disaster and useful only to understand why at booking is made compulsory; being the only eating options within a 10 km radius if turned into a nice experience would be the preferred choice of any guest. Heads up to the guest manager. She should be promoted to run the place!
