Well, room was fine but I was a bit annoyed by the air conditioning system

During a business trip to Berlin we had our accommodation at Sly Berlin, a bit in the outskirts of most interesting places in that city - a first for me. Room was fine, not too big and not too small. Bathroom very cosy and functional. Bed was okay but the pillows were way too soft for a good night's sleep. One thing that bothered me was the air conditioning system that was very loud. A constant whining sound when it was activated - luckily I didn't have to use it during the night because that would have been impossible. Breakfast was very good too! Lot to choose from and extra bonus for that crispy bacon - well done! If I would change another thing then it would be the intense smell of something that were used in the staircase area in the grey building. Smells like a church and is way too intense for a public space like this. On the other hand, for some reason different hotels around the world thinks that this is something the visitors might like but, no it's not - better use a more discrete scent that doesn't kill your brain - just sayin'...

Exemplary service.

Having lost my phone on the first day of a 4 week holiday, hotel staff Jessica and Antonella came to the rescue. They provided excellentassistance to navigate the “locate the I-Phone” site and then facilitated discussions with the “finder” to allow me to recover the phone in the heart of Berlin. Both staff exhibited exactly the competence and empathy needed in a quite challenging situation - I was extremely grateful for their invaluable assistance. Together with the other friendly front desk staff, restaurant staff and overall high quality room presentation my experience wth Sly Berlin leaves me with a great sense of appreciation of its exceptional service.

Smells great

We really enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It is quiet and modern but what I loved the most was how lovely the whole place smells! Our room was clean and quiet, the rooftop sauna was our favourite with a great view of the city. Great public transport (as is the case in Berlin) and so it was not a problem to move around the city and go to the place we wanted to visit. We will be back.

Hidden hotel in East Berlin

This hotel is overall very good. Easy access to several trams and U Bhan 10 min walk. There were plenty of staff and all very helpful. The room was good and the bed was amazing. Some small amounts of wear and tear in the room but still chic. The bathroom was great with Molton Brown soap and shampoo. Some nice touches generally. The main down issue was the lift, whilst the rooms were generally very quiet, we were opposite the lift. Being there for 8 nights it was distracting more than noisy. Personally, considering the time we were staying, I think they should have allocated a different room that was quieter. The other key point is that breakfast is 32 euros per person. It's really expensive, we tried it once, and it's good, but it's not that good. We found amazing places for half the price. The restaurant and bar area is, however, fantastic and the staff very courteous. If the hotel is open to advice, we would change the restaurant menu to encourage wider use, consider a cheaper breakfast offer, and check staffing levels, as they seem quite high. Overall recommend, great experience

Mixed Feelings - Needs Improvement to be considered luxury

Fri Aug 09 2024 09:32:30 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by Marco B

Honestly shocked about the level of incompetence by the front desk staff during my stay here. The hotel is beautifully designed and very clean, however that does not make it a 5 out of 5 experience. There is no refrigerator in the room and no phone. There is also no keyhole in the door, which I found rather odd. The staff was extremely unprofessional. There was no recognition with my status during check in. No benefits were arranged until I had to bring it up to them. They also wanted to charge me €60 for a late check out. Which is astounding because the late check out was guaranteed for my reservation. I felt like I had to educate them in order for them to understand what I had reserved. The sauna is beautiful and a very unique feature, however the elevator was broken during my stay and guests had to walk up 6 flights of stairs to access the sauna and rooftop. The hotel needs staffing work and more professionalism. The housekeeping stood outside the room waiting for my girlfriend while she was packing her belongings in the room, much before the checkout time. It was as if they were pressuring her to leave quicker. The location is not central to anything, however there is a tram outside that leads you directly to the center. I probably would not stay at this hotel again due to the unprofessionalism of the hotel staff.
