To experience Chobe everything is worth it, the place is an absolute dream. The safaris were just perfect, our guide Cavin was really great. The and beyond experience was totally wonderful. The camp is very nice, you must consider that they need to move everything once a week so it has to have some limitations. The tents are very good, it is very cold at night but the beds are wonderful and they supply bushbabies so you are very warm. Food was amazing and the people at the camp are wonderful. A special mention to the choir that received us, it is absolutely magnificent!!!! I am not giving it a 5 (and believe me it is a 4,9) because it was very difficult to take a shower. When you arrive in camp in the evening it is already very cold and it is definitely a sacrifice to have a shower. Same in the morning. Perhaps a solution could be find to make showering more palatable. Being this the case I believe 2 nights is an ideal time to stay. All the above considered, it was really an amazing experience which I definitely recommend. The best safari ever!!!!!

UK couple. 60ish. 3 nights under canvas. We both thoroughly enjoyed both the camp and the game drives. All the staff are amazing (and sing well!). The food is also very nice. The tents are quite big. The shower and loo anre inside at the back of the tent. The water in the afternoon is quite warm and we were given fresh warm water every morning along with fresh drinking water. The tent comes with all the soaps, shampoos and sprays you could want, six 12 v lamps and a torch. At night we were given hot water bottles! The morning game drives were cold and again we each had a hot water bottle as well as a blanket. Bring a jacket. Usually left around 6.30 and stopped around 9am for coffee and a bun. 1st full day we went on the photo boat trip. Started with a 3 hour game drives, couple of hours in the boat, lovely lunch at a hotel and 3 hour time drive home. What an absolutely fantastic day. The photo guide was amazing (we’re not photographers) and we learned loads. 2nd full day was split between a morning and afternoon game drive. After lunch back at the tent we spent a few hours with our feet in big Bowles of warm water. Bliss. All the game drives were fantastic. You don’t expect to find yourself saying, “oh, just more elephants“. Our top sightings were Sable antelopes, three wild dogs chasing an impala, and a leopard in a tree. Our guide Cavin was so knowledgeable and has amazing eyesight. It is an expensive but well worth it holiday. We have already talked about returning….. Thanks to all the team at the camp.

I can't say enough about our stay at Chobe Under Canvas. The staff was incredible and always there for everything we wanted. We were greeted with song by the entire staff and they all came to see us off at the end with more singing. The meals are fantastic with more food than you can eat and there's a full bar that's always available. The wildlife was everywhere and our guide, Big Mike, never failed to find the best sighting spots. Because Under Canvas is actually within Chobe National Park the accommodations are actual tents and there is no electricity but we barely noticed. They supplied plenty of hot water in our tent for our showers, the bed is exceptionally comfortable and it's a full flush toilet, so you really aren't missing any comforts. This was one of my two favorite spots (out of 6) on our 18 day trip. They are definitely a must stay on any trip to Botswana.

I booked this at relatively late notice and it was available on the chosen dates. I was attracted because I knew that the company had an upscale reputation, but this sort of small 'glamping' camp felt very appealing. Also Kasane was logistically convenient for us. The camp itself was everything we could have expected: - just 5 tents which gave a very intimate atmosphere. Nice fellow guests - food was fine, but being prepared in a situation where the camp moves every 6 days. Portions could have been greater, and better snacks provided. But food was fine. - tents are lovely and typical glamping. All canvas, but flush toilet, shower, hot water in a basin etc. Bed v comfortable - the camp has no fence. We had a leopard sitting 100m from the dinner table on the first night. - great (all male) staff Chobe: - the wildlife is sensational. Just amazing. Lions everywhere. Elephants often seen 40 at a time. Incredible. Only thing we didn't see (and isn't present) are rhino and cheetah. The park has no fence and is zero intervention. Animal walk around the local town. - proximity to the local town is perhaps the downside even if it's a convenience. You share a public park with people staying at the Kasane lodges, driving into the park each day. It felt busy - often several vehicles at a viewing point. - one upside of that proximity is the photo safari. Fabulous. Top cameras on 'gun mounts' in a specially adapted boat. You need to leave the park to get on the boat to reenter, which broke the remoteness spell. But worth it. If you want less people, and a greater sense of remoteness, then consider flying into somewhere away from an airport. But you lose time, and spend more money (because you'll get more frills in the camp). Yet I can't imagine that paying back in better game viewing.

My spouse and I just returned from a trip to Botswana that included three nights at Chobe Under Canvas. I will try my best to do justice to this safari camp and the team there. The experience was fantastic. The camp is deep within Chobe National Park which gave us access to animal viewing from sunrise to sunset. The density and variety of animals was astounding. So many elephants, lions, baboons, leopards, crocodiles, hippos, impalas, buffalos, giraffes, and an astounding variety of bird species. Our stay included a photographic boat excursion on the Chobe River. Using the camera equipment provided to us, we took literally thousands of amazing photos. The guide for our game drives able to answer all of our questions about the flora, fauna, geology, geography, and history of Botswana. The tent accommodations were incredibly comfortable, and the meals were expertly prepared over an open fire. (Sincerely, we stayed at a number of camps, and the meals prepared by the chef at Chobe Under Canvas were consistently as good or better than the ones from more traditional kitchens.) Plus, the camp manager and our guide joined us for our meals, and they taught us so much about the people and wildlife of Southern Africa. At night, we fell asleep to the sounds of lions and elephants, and during our final night, we had a honey badger come to the front of our tent and then meander away. I am so glad we stayed at Chobe Under Canvas. It was truly amazing and unforgettable experience.
