The hotel sits right across from the old town with views of the fortress. Breakfast was excellent. We used public transportation for our travels and the hotel was close to the bus stop , Mirabelle Gardens, and everything was within walking distance. Air conditioning was appreciated and can be hard to find in some hotels. This was a quiet sport with easy access to everything in Salzburg.

The location is the only positive aspect of the hotel, but as there are plenty of other hotels in the same area a I wouldn’t call it a star feature. Definitely does not recommend picking a honeymoon suite. This is extremely overpriced especially considering the staff is below expectations. Included Sauna is very small and not working properly (they have turned it on for 20 min only and wasn’t hot enough) lacking basic things like flip flops in the room, which we managed to get after calling the reception. The room is nice and big. Overall 2/5

The room was spacious and beautiful BUT more importantly, the customer service was exceptional. Christoff and Ahmed treated us like "royalty" by making us feel so very welcomed. Whether it was suggestions for dinner, suggestions of sights not to miss, or just easy walking directions...we felt very cared for. We would definitely stay here again!!

My daughter and I arrived at Hotel Stein after a very long travel day and were very grateful to Ahmed at the front desk who took us under his wing and arranged dinner at the hotel's rooftop bar & restaurant at the best table. What a beautiful introduction to our glorious stay in Salzburg! The hotel is in a perfect location, everything is in walking distance. The room was immaculate and the bed very cozy and comfortable. If I am lucky enough to return to Salzburg I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you Ahmed!

DO NOT GO to the ROOF TERRACE! My wife and I, both mid 50's and seasoned world travellers ventured there last Sunday, given it was a lovely afternoon. We presented ourselves at the rooftop reception area where there were a couple of people in the queue before us (no problem), we were shown to a table and asked to wait until a table became available on the terrace (no problem) but noticed we had become invisible! The 'Meeter and Greeter' then proceeded to offer drinks to, and served a couple of parties who arrived after ourselves. After asking the above why we were being overlooked, he grudgingly supplied a Drinks Menu and muttered 'everyone is first'. No one came to take our order and the and the final straw came when the aforementioned latecomers were directed to tables on the Terrace. After complaining, we were basically told 'too bad'. We left and informed the reception staff on the ground floor of our experience. The staff on duty apologised on behalf of the establishment (appreciated) but then amazingly one staff member imparted ('it was a common complaint'!!!!!!) This is not the first time we have received bad service there and walked out after being ignored. The worst staff we have ever encountered work on that Roof Terrace. Moral of the story; If they s**t on you once, shame on them, If they s**t on you twice, shame on us. NIE WIEDER
