We visited as part of a large group touring Japan. This hotel was booked by our UK tour operator. The Kyoto Tokyu Hotel is in a poor location, some distance from the downtown area and its attractions. We had to take taxi to explore as there were few local shops, restaurants, facilities or attractions. The rooms were very warm. We set the air conditioning to 16C in an effort to be cooler, but room temperature remained over 26C. Opening the full length window (which opened so wide that you could jump out from the 5th floor on which our tiny room was situated) allowed mosquitoes to get in so we were both bitten overnight. Some of the other members of our group described similar problems. Rooms are small with very limited storage space. Breakfast is average but you have to get there early to avoid the queues. Overall not a great experience: you're better off to choose somewhere more centrally located.

What an extremely disappointing experience. This hotel was part of a tour package and we expected so much better. Tiny little room, no closet, no AC control. All you can adjust is speed of air, other than that you get the same temperature as the rest of the floor, about 75 degrees . Absolutely miserable. Bathroom so small you you barely turn around in it. Lobby is nice, staff is pleasant. Room experience is very poor.

First off, be warned that unless you park in the garage, you will come in on the upper area of the hotel. The check in desk is down an escalator. With the amount of luggage we had, it was very inconvenient. The elevators to the rooms also are down the escalator. The room we had was the lowest price range but was very nice. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom had no fan so I had to leave the door open. There is only a hand held in the shower. No matter how I positioned it, I was flooding out or around the tub. Good location and beautiful sites around the hotel.

This hotel is a short drive from Kyoto station in the free shuttle they provide to the hotel , The instructions on how to find the shuttle were good . Tam was very helpful and recommended a local restaurant which I went back to several times for good local Japanese cuisine . The room was comfortable and size typical of a Japanese room . The rooftop and bar were closed which was disappointing.
