Come for the Hotel and Spa, the combo is one of the best I've experienced. The staff is amazing with how welcoming and courteous they are towards all guest. The restaurant is good but not life changing for the price, and the in-room menu seemed to have a slightly larger selection. If you are looking for a resort and spa that has everything I would highly recommend the Salamander. Especially if you are looking for a quiet couples night or weekend.

My first stay at Salamander was unforgettable. From the warm welcome and thoughtful touches to the upgraded room with a fireplace, everything exceeded expectations. Dining at the Gold Cup Wine Bar, Harrimans, and in-room was delicious, and the spa treatments were truly restorative. I can’t wait to return with family and friends to enjoy more of this heavenly resort.

Heartbreaking Experience at Salamander Resort, Middleburg, VA – Not What We Expected for a Once-in-a-Lifetime Moment We recently stayed at the Salamander Resort in Middleburg, VA on August 6, 2025, to celebrate a very special milestone in our lives—our engagement. Before booking, we reached out to the hotel via email to confirm whether photography would be permitted during our stay. The response (which we have in writing) clearly stated that as registered guests, we were allowed to take photos both inside and outside the hotel. With that reassurance, we booked a one-night stay and made all the necessary preparations for a meaningful photo shoot. This included hiring a professional photographer, a makeup artist, a hairstylist, and even renting and purchasing outfits to capture this once-in-a-lifetime moment. We arrived excited and full of joy, looking forward to a smooth and memorable experience. However, shortly after beginning our shoot—without disturbing any guests or violating any private areas—we were abruptly approached by the Director of Sales and Marketing. He did not introduce himself politely or take the time to listen. Instead, we were spoken to in a cold and confrontational manner, as if we were trespassers rather than welcomed guests. When we explained that we had received written permission from the hotel’s staff confirming that photography was allowed for registered guests, he dismissed our explanation and insisted that it was against hotel policy. We even showed him the email, yet he continued to argue with us. At one point, he said he would “write up” the staff member who had provided that information instead of honoring what had already been communicated to us. He then reluctantly told us we had only 30 minutes to finish, which completely disrupted the flow of our shoot and added an enormous amount of pressure to what was meant to be a joyful and relaxed experience. He also repeatedly said he would call security if we did not comply, which was humiliating and deeply upsetting. The entire encounter ruined what was supposed to be a very meaningful day for us. We invested so much time, effort, and money to make this memory special, and instead, we were treated with hostility and disrespect. This is not the level of service or professionalism anyone should experience—especially not at a resort with Salamander’s reputation. We will never return, and we strongly urge anyone considering Salamander Resort for a special occasion to think carefully. What was supposed to be a celebration of love turned into one of the most disappointing and stressful hotel experiences we’ve ever had

Absolutely amazing experience…. The room was one of the best we have stayed in, the food was off the charts, and the staff were great. The overall Spa Services / Experience are impressive. The property is beautiful and it’s almost impossible not to be at peace when walking around. We will definitely go back.

We prepaid for dog friendly room with doors that opened to ground floor making it easier for my ADA family. Upon arrival, we were told accessible accommodations we paid for were not available. We expected much more from a highly rated resort. Spend your hard earned money somewhere where they care more about people than giving rooms away to others with less need. My wife celebrating her 70th birthday deserved much better — and received just that at a Hilton down the road.
