Awesome but dropped off a bit. Even if you're not a golf lover, which I am, the setting here is amazing with stunning views (especially at sunset). If you are a golf lover, add to that, the course is fantastic, challenging with some really tricky and fast greens and ocean front holes along the "in the trees" mountain like holes. The restaurants are very good also. Roy's has some excellent food always, but had a couple of misses and lunch out on the deck is awesome. The other restaurant Pepoli's has some great steaks and more, but on this trip the cook couldn't get the temp right so medium rare was raw, then the re-cook came back medium well. Big bummer for a really expensive meal. In addition, the outside firepit area on the deck where the bagpiper comes up at sunset is very cool and a great way to end a round or the day. The rooms are very nice but not spectacular. Remodeled but smallish and still feel older in style & layout. Also, the ocean view rooms which are very expensive are really golf course view with the ocean far in the distance, kinda on the horizon. Not alot of wave and ocean sounds. Overall very nice, but worth the price? Hmmmm, let's just say, probably won't do it again but was worth the experience once.

Won a live auction package at a charity golf outing last year for a 3-night/3-round stay at The Inn at Spanish Bay. This was a bucket list trip and I was fortunate that my wife joined me along with friends who also golfed. We had a fabulous time. We paid for an upgrade and upon arrival learned that they upgraded us to an executive suite. The facility was outstanding and the service exceptional across the entire resort. From the moment we arrived until we departed, the staff were top-notch first class. We arrived late morning for a noon tee time at Spanish Bay and the valet was quick to unload our rental car and unpack our golf clubs from the travel bags. Valet parking was free. We checked in a the front desk in a matter of minutes and briefly stopped by our suite before they shuttled us over to the golf course. We played all three courses at PBR and the views were absolutely stunning. There are plenty of restaurants onsite to choose from and a fabulous patio bar (cigar friendly!) with excellent cocktails to watch the sunset and listen to the bagpiper each evening. Upon our departure, we were heading to SFO for a few days and decided to use Ship Sticks. The concierge took care of everything. I've stayed at other golf destinations (St. Andrews, Pinehurst, etc.) and the Inn at Spanish Bay is probably now my favorite.

Absolutely beautiful. Hands down the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were all so friendly. Our stand out guy was Sam on bellman/valet parking he was just so lovely but also took time to get to know us, gave lots of recommendations to make our stay and travels better. Yeah it’s a bit pricey but that’s expected for this calibre of hotel. Lots of thoughtful Nik naks left for us, just the small things that make you smile. The views are just out of this world. Will 100% be back!

Check in was lovely. As we were escorted to our room, we were given an overview of the property. Our room was lovely. The bed was a little soft. The pillow menu and the snacks and soft drinks included were a nice touch. I enjoyed the sauna but the ladies locker room could use some more toiletries(razors, dental floss, etc...). Given the exorbitant amount they charge for minimum 3 day stay, you would think they could extend the lobby coffee past 9am! We golfed Pebble beach, Spyglass and Spanish Bay. I have been golfing 2+ years (24 handicap) and like to play fast! Pebble Beach was hard to see through the fog and our caddies were more of a hindrance than help! They drove carts with our bags on them!!! They had NO range finder!! When someone asks the yardage...they don't want an estimate - which was usually wrong!! Then when we asked for a club, they said "oh sorry I don't have that one, its back on the cart! " They had no intention of going back and getting what we wanted. So, I walked back to get it! I clocked 9 miles on my watch that day! Then to add insult to injury. you're charged $210 for the double bag caddie who did NOT carry a bag and on top of that they expect a $100 to $150 tip!! INSULTING. It was a VERY long 5 hour and 15 min round! For Spyglass, we requested the caddies CARRY our bags. We were told by the proshop, caddies are independent contractors and we would have to ask them that?!?!? Anyway, we had two caddies that were better than the day before but AGAIN, everything was "about 20 yds" or "roughly 80 yards". Where we come from, Caddies are paid a lot less and are better trained! We had a painful 5 hour 30 min round. Its impossible to get a rhythm when you wait on EVERY SHOT. Lastly, for Spanish Bay, we just took carts - no caddies! The GPS on the golf carts was accurate and it was the fastest of the 3 rounds clocking in just under 5 hours. woohoo! All courses are beautiful and unique and if you get a chance, go play them. For my money, I will go to Scotland or Ireland next time.
