Pros and Cons

Wed Aug 13 2025 00:12:17 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by Sheryl S

I will start with the pros Great location!!! , Close to Old Montreal, China town and different points of interest and amenities. We walked everywhere!! Checking in/out was easy and quick. Staff are fluent in both English and French. No issues with the wifi as others have mentioned Our room was clean and modern. Was surprised to find yoga mats in the room Our flight did not leave until hours after check out time. The hotel stored our luggage and pre ordered a taxi for us. No for the not so great... this hotel has some maintenance Issues A clicking/knocking sound would keep coming sporadically Although the Shower is large with both rainfall head and handheld. It has no stool or ledge to prop your foot on. Probably only an issue if you have mobility issues and issues bending over to reach your feet but there is plenty or room for the hotel to instal a small corner one, so that would have been nice. The Shower knobs were confusing to use. I suggest turning on and getting the setting where you want them before getting in. The sink drainage needs to be addressed and it is very slow to drain. The bed is a European King size which is essentially a queen size bed. This is not as advertised as they advertised it as a king size. As we are in North America they should be using the correct sizing for this area. The bed had no sheets, only a sheet to cover the mattress and a blanket. The sheet to cover the mattress was a top sheet, so no fitted sheet on the bed. Which amplified the A/C issue. A/C not available, can't lower temperature under 20°C. After having our first sleepless night because it was too hot. I tried to lower the thermostat, but would not go below a setting of 20°C. The next morning we went to the front desk to see why we were having issues. Myah (spelling it phonetically) was quite rude when I asked about this. Her words were condensing in tone. Her body language was cold, she pursed her lips at me, eye , head tilts as if she was exasperated with me complaining about this even though this was my first time bring this to their attention. Eventually she proceeded to tell me that the building as a whole has the temperature capped at a low of 20 and a high (cant remember what the high was). I then asked if I could get a fan for the room. Her response was vague and noncommittal. She stated that she could try but she thinks they are all being used. I then asked her, don’t you think there is something wrong with the capping at 20 if multiple people are complaining about this so much so that all you fans are being used. All I got in response was a side eye. I then asked if she was the manager, she said no and asked if I would like to talk to one. She then got Mattiau. Who was much more pleasant to talk to. He arranged for a fan to be brought to my room, which arrived with in 10 minutes. During this conversation I asked if 20 is the lowest why is it not even at 20. He said that was not right and would send a maintenance person to come take a look. Which they did and he wound up changing some device in the ceiling. The service that was done made no difference but I just gave up. We know have a fan and I didn’t want to spend my whole vacation messing around with it. Also, even though you can set temp to 20 it does not reach that low . The lowest it ever got was about 22 and I saw it go up to 25 I am writing this from the Airplane home and it will not let me upload pics as connection is too slow If I can add to this review later I will add them

Some good, some bad.

Wed Jul 30 2025 22:39:39 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by Linda G

While this hotel is a bit out of the main activity zones, it's only a short walk to a major shopping mall and a relatively short Uber ride to Old Montreal and the downtown areas. The restaurant serves very good food. We had a superb dinner one evening, and breakfast pretty much every morning that we were there. The bed was very comfortable. The shower in the room was excellent, and the cleaning service was prompt and efficient. The toilet is enclosed in the shower area, but the sink and mirror area is separate, and not private. So anyone at the sink is completely audible and visible to others in the room. I found this really annoying. BUT -- the worst issue for me was that there are NO DRAWERS IN THE ROOMS! Not one! You can hang up some things in the closet, but for everything else, you have to live out of your suitcase for the time you are there. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! AT THESE PRICES?! We considered moving to a different place, but in the end we decided it would have been more trouble to move than it was to stay. So we stayed, and it turned out fine. But wow - a real design flaw, IMHO. My advice - better to stay somewhere else.

Good location, nice surrounding atmosphere, friendly staff !! lovely and great first impression of hotel. Everything about the hotel was exceptional. It was clean with excellent service in where we had dinner. Food was good and great value for money and service was attentive and efficient. Room itself was well equipped and comfortable. The security agent was muscular , polite and handsome ! He didn't allow any homeless to approach us while we were smoking at the door plus he recommended us a very nice pub close by and it was really fun ! We feIt really safe there! I was very pleased with my stay. I hope to be back for a longer visit in the future.

Do Not Stay Here - Look For Other Options Around

Thu Jul 03 2025 12:19:31 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by Muhammad I

Do Not Stay Here Look For Other Options Around You will find much better places to stay at less cost This was on the list of hotels that might have offeref "group rate" to ASEE Conference attendees. But I found out later that Monville's rate was equal or higher than the nearby much better hotels. My other main issue with this hotel was a maintenance problem. A clicking/knocking sound would keep coming sporadically from the celing. I couldn't sleep well at night. I notified the staff and requested for a repair or transfer me to another room. Their response was that they do not have any other room for the next two days - an excuse that left me no other option. They sent a maintenance personnel who wasa not hopeful the problem could be fixed quickly. He promised to request for another room for me - but I did not hear from them. Later the staff promised to send another maintenance person at 9pm in the evening - but no one showed up. I also asked if I could go to another hotel if they cancel my stay here - the staff was reluctant to allow this and promised to check with their manager and get back - but never got back to me. When I brought this up with the staff at my checkout, they asked me to move aside quietly away from the sight and hearing of other customers. The lady told me that she was not charging me for my stay and that she would consult with her manager and contact me as needed. A few days later a manager, Abir Sakr, sent me an email and made the case that they did not resolve the issue as I did not keep following up with them - a non-professional acumen. Abir Sakr insisted on charging me for my stay. How else they needed to be informed that their customer had an issue? They kept promising actions and to get back to me but never did - instead expected me to keep asking. There were other issues with this hotel. The carpet smelled old and dusty. Also, there was an odor in the hallways. Windows could not be opened for fresh air - so the tenent is forced to breathe the dusty and odorous air. The food at the bar was expensive but not as good. Valet parking was very inconvenient and quite expensive and came as a surprise. Conclusion: Look For Other Hotels I see that Abir Sakr consistently posts replies to reviews - but do not get deceived by their false verbiage.

Amazing weekend getaway!

Mon May 05 2025 09:30:15 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by BIlal S

I booked a weekend getaway at Hotel Monville with my wife to recharge, and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, Abir Sakr and her team made us feel incredibly welcome and well taken care of. The service was exceptional throughout our stay. The hotel’s location is perfect—central and convenient for exploring Montreal. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and every detail reflected the boutique charm we were hoping for. My wife and I left feeling relaxed and refreshed, and we’re already planning our next weekend escape to Hotel Monville. Highly recommend!
