Live la dolce vita when you check into Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & SPA on Italy's Ischia Island, just a short ferry ride off the coast from Naples. Set in a former 19th-century villa originally designed and built for Lord James Nimmo, the hotel was transformed into a luxury resort in the 1950s by Count Micangeli and has been one of the island's hottest spots ever since. Perched on a lush hillside overlooking the Gulf of Naples, with views to the distant Aragonese island castle, Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & SPA gives you the chance to live life like an Italian aristocrat.
A 2020 TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice Award recipient and consecutive winner for the last four years, Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & SPA's modern, award-winning property and amenities go hand-in-hand with its storied past, where Italian film stars, famed musicians, and other European and American celebrities came to rest, relax, mingle, and party on one of the most beautiful shorelines on the Italian Mediterranean.
Quintessential Mediterranean styling and design reigns at Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & SPA. From the brightly hued floor tiles in each guest accommodation to the sumptuous tapestries, artwork, and Art Deco accents, such as arched windows and doors and grand terraces, Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & SPA provides you with the sunny, Southern Italian atmosphere you deserve.
Across its 78 total rooms, the hotel offers guest accommodations for every type of traveler. Whether you're a romantic couple seeking a long weekend away on the placid waters of the Gulf of Naples or a family of four searching for a perfect family getaway, there's room for you.
Accommodations at Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & SPA consist of:
Standard Rooms - Perfect for two with garden views and a semi-private terrace or balcony, along with a bathroom with either a shower or bathtub.
Superior Double Rooms - Another great option for couples, these rooms offer fully furnished balconies or terraces with garden, village, or sea views, and include a marbled bathroom with shower or bathtub.
Deluxe Double Rooms - Spacious accommodations with a dedicated seating area, large bathroom, and balcony with garden or sea views. Good also for three guests (a couple with a child, a parent with two kids, or a group of three adults)
Suites Junior - Each of the five Suites Junior sea views are decorated individually, paying homage to the views that each provides: The Admiral's suite offers a huge terrace that makes you feel like you're on a ship's bridge, while the Sea and Mountain Suite frames breathtaking views of the ocean and green mountains of Ischia. A few other suites round out this collection of rooms, with all featuring living areas, personalized service, luxurious baths, and plenty of Mediterranean charm.
Grand Suite - Last, but certainly not least, is Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & SPA's Grand Suite. The largest suite in the hotel provides guests with over 1,600 sq ft / 150 sq m of space, along with expansive sea views, two bedrooms (each with a private bath), a kitchenette, separate living area, dining area, and an oversized outdoor terrace with unrivaled panoramic views of Ischia and the sea beyond.
Helmed by Chef Libera Iovine, Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & SPA's dining program is built around the notion of low-fat foods cooked quickly to seal in their original flavors and freshness.
With its stunning location overlooking the sea, large pool, and own private beach complete with loungers, umbrellas, and a bar, you would be forgiven for never wanting to leave the hotel property.
Spend your days lounging poolside or take it one step further and go for over-the-top relaxation and rejuvenation at OIL + SPA, the hotel's spa centered around thermal water treatments. Drawn from volcanic springs deep beneath Ischia, the hotel's thermal waters are mineral-rich and known for their healing properties. Take the waters at the spa before finishing off your time there with a rejuvenating massage, facial, manicure or pedicure, or experience shower, sauna, or Turkish bath.
Beyond the spa, you can work out in the fitness center, enjoy a wine tasting in the hotel's wine cellar, book a special sea and land excursion at the concierge desk, or take a cooking class led by Head Chef Libera Iovine.
Outside the hotel, avail yourself of all the sights, sounds, and smells that this Southern Italian island has to offer.
Other can't-miss activities on Ischia:
Nestled on a hillside surrounded by a lush seaside park, Excelsior Belvedere Hotel & SPA is just a short distance from the main town of Ischia and its restaurants, shops, piazzas, and cultural sights that overlook the Gulf of Ischia where, if you're lucky, you'll spot seven species of whales and dolphins, including gigantic fin and sperm whales
Because the hotel is located on an Island, travel is less than straightforward, but still relatively easy. The concierge can arrange transfers directly from Naples International Airport, and more distant areas such as the Amalfi Coast or the Sorrento peninsula (including ferry rides).

So I always do a proper research when booking hotels and used Trip Advisor to help me with this holiday. It did not disappoint. I can honestly say this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in would most definitely return. Ischia has so much to offer, the hotel was spotless, the staff were over helpful, the ladies on reception, Enzo in the bar & the fabulous Giovanni on the beach!! I just can’t fault it. Breakfast is amazing, dinner also incredible & there is plenty to do, see & eat out of the hotel. Would thoroughly recommend ❤️

This was my second time there for a 6 day stay and I was pleased that they were able to maintain the high standard compared to my first visit. The garden is absolutely magical and they added a new infinity pool overlooking the sea. The nice private beach and the central location with close proximity to Porto and Ponte are a big plus point of this noble house. The pianist and singer Gino d'Ischia contributes to the unique old-school glamour of this noble house. It's nice to see that they are committed to preserve its beauty while continuing to invest in renovations.

A complete delight from start to finish. The style is elegant with a gentleness and charm from an earlier era. The hotel is immaculately maintained (we saw a man walking the corridors with a paint brush to eradicate any tiny blemish) and has made good use of the site to develop a beautiful garden with lots of little nooks and crannies where you can find peace and solitude. Cross over a quiet road and you arrive at a small private beach with one of the most delightful little beach side restaurants I’ve ever been to in Italy. The staff are professional, the breakfast extensive and of good quality. We ate in the restaurant twice and the food was very good. The clientele are generally older European and families with adult children. As we hover at retirement age we felt at home! We loved it so much we booked for the following year before we left. What a great discovery.
