Middle Eight sits in the heart of Covent Garden, an area steeped in history, shopping, entertainment, and attractions. The hotel takes its name from the musical term "middle eight," a type of musical interlude or bridge that differs in character from a song's melody and is used to inject variety through a change of key or tempo. Middle Eight works in a similar way, enhancing the Covent Garden area with its luxurious and modern accommodations, while still holding strong to the heritage and character of the neighborhood. Guests of Middle Eight can:
Harking back to 1912, the building that Middle Eight calls home was originally a Methodist church called Kingsway Hall. Known to have some of the finest acoustics for recording classical orchestral and choral music at that time, Middle Eight continues that theme of live music and performances throughout its dining and entertainment venues.
Throughout the hotel's 180 rooms, bespoke furniture maintains the hotel's signature warm look, while marble bathrooms with rainfall showers and black accents make for a soothing and relaxing urban escape. Accommodations start with the Cozy Pad room with its standard luxury amenities, such as Egyptian cotton linens, Nespresso coffee machines, flat-screen TVs with Chromecast, and super-soft beds.
The room types continue with the Classic Chic room, Urban Deluxe room, Superior Street room, and Executive Style room. The largest and grandest accommodations at Middle Eight are the expansive Bedroom Luxury Suites, which feature all the above amenities with the added benefit of enhanced bespoke toiletries, a separate sitting and dining area, and a pristine white marble bathroom boasting a freestanding soaking tub. Some feature a private outdoor terrace perfect for a nightcap or early morning coffee while others offer internal garden spaces.
Taking its cues from London's cosmopolitan approach to food and drink, Middle Eight's dining program offers three venues, each providing a modern twist on traditional cuisine. You'll dine on authentic Italian-inspired food at the hotel's flagship restaurant and bar, Sycamore, and its two other eateries, QT and The Balcony.
Middle Eight's many amenities make it a perfect stay in the English capital. If you need to work out while you're away, the hotel's fitness center, with cardio machines and weights, has you covered. Or, opt for a run in nearby Lincoln Inn's Field Garden, just a few steps away from the front door. Attend a live music performance at QT, dine on delicious Italian food, or simply rest and relax in your elegantly appointed room.
Outside the hotel, London awaits with its dozens of sights and attractions, including must-sees Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square, as well as new sites such as SKETCH, an art-focused modern tearoom with a bathroom composed of space-like avant-garde toilet pods.
Some of London's most amazing activities are within walking distance of Middle Eight's front door.

Back again, this is now our favourite hotel in London. We always book Urban Deluxe and ask for a high floor which they do give us. This time room 723. The only difference was there was no small table for the settee which I know should be there but they did deliver one within 10 minutes of asking. The rooms are very well designed in our opinion, spacious and comfortable. A few lovely touches: - The crockery and glassware provided is beautiful and stylish. - Nespresso machine, kettle well laid out, fridge containing large bottle water and small fresh milk, both necessary but not always provided in other hotels. - Toiletries lovely and in large bottles so easy to use - Good shower with controls away from shower head so easy to get temperature etc right without having to stand under cold or too hot water! We were welcomed back with a glass of Prosecco, another nice touch. We will return!

We loved our stay at Middle Eight in an Urban Deluxe room. The impeccably dressed staff were attentive and welcoming. The hotel and room were beautifully appointed, and very comfortable. The location is perfect - moments in foot to Covent Garden, Seven Dials and Holborn tube, but a peaceful retreat from the crowds. We loved it and will be back.

Excellent hotel with spacious, stylish rooms, and an overall wonderful ambience. It is my second stay at Middle Eight, and I will continue reserving here when visiting London. Breakfast is lovely, quality of the food is good with great service. Marie-France is incredibly kind, helpful, and has a warm, open personality, making the morning experience that much better!

My second stay at the Middle Eight and we won't be returning. Unfortunately the stay is staying with me this week as I am totally exhausted from it. We arrived and there were not enough staff to check us in (one initially, then a second did join), there was a fairly large queue forming to check-in, we'd been travelling and were tired, we had wanted to have a quick lie down before getting ready but I ended up standing there with a suitcase whilst my husband had to go off to find a bathroom and it ate in to our time so we didn't get a quick rest in. Once we checked in we were placed in a room on the first floor on the street side, no warning we wouldn't be getting any sleep at all though. There was an event at 'Sway' at the Grand Connaught hotel next door which was kicking off when we returned from the theatre, the party-goers however weren't being unpleasant, just very loud with cars blasting music and picking each other up etc after a party. Whilst the Middle Eight hotel can't help this, the bedlam outside made it difficult to navigate back to the hotel as noise control vest-wearing individuals were doing absolutely zero to contain the noise, cars had just been left at junctions near the hotel with nobody in them causing others to beep horns - it was a bit chaotic, however as the Middle Eight room had double glazing and a secondary set of windows internally this disturbance wasn't so bad from our bed - the main issue was Sycamore, belonging to Middle Eight, was blasting bassy music till the early hours of the morning, we had seen people queuing up outside to get in earlier in the evening so assume the hotel were aware they'd be bassing us out so hard the bed would be shaking but didn't think to mention it on my several hundred pound booking. All in all I got about 45 minutes of sleep before we had to rise to leave, I was frazzled, my husband was exhausted and we were just thinking about what we'd spent to stay there and how we'd have been better off somewhere cheaper. The staff are so friendly and polite in this hotel, I am not commenting about any of them personally, but this trip just fell so short. Our shower-head was caked in limescale and pink mould and spraying in all different directions as a result, the grout in our shower was also mouldy in places, the shower glass was covered in smears, there was conditioner on the wall I had to wipe off myself and I just felt frankly a bit gross by the time we left. Our room carpet was also filthy and we very much used the included slippers from the wardrobe as it turned my white socks brown, definitely take slippers with you when staying! The windows were also rotten and needed a good clean inside and out. The bedding was very clean and crisp white and the towels were also very clean - so care is taken to the room turnover but our room certainly needed a deeper cyclical clean in my opinion. We had stayed at Middle Eight as we attend a show annually as a birthday couples visit, we popped down to the hotel bar for a drink together before the show as we choose to stay there so we don't have to go and wait in the foyer of the theatre and relax a little, after half an hour we actually abandoned our drink order that hadn't been made yet as it was going to make us late, again - the staff were lovely but the bartender was alone at 5:30-6pm in a busy hotel bar with an event going on, so we couldn't even have a glass of fizz or a birthday cheers before we had to rush off to the theatre as our drinks never arrived and weren't made yet. I have considered contacting the hotel to complain, as honestly I have had better experiences in budget hotels and this stay has really had an negative impact on my week moving forward, it was supposed to be our special annual birthday celebration and a rare weekend together as husband and wife and instead it was like being at a university halls party!
