Rather disappointing

This hotel was included as part of our cruise package and we had no choice in the matter. Standard rooms very small and no room for luggage or to hang clothes for a few days ahead of a cruise so you best to uopcgfrade room ( or stay elsewhere) . Great location on waterfront and we walked to ABBA/Vasa museums and caught tram back. Staff were variable from very helpful and pleasant to a very unhelpful and rude female receptionist. As others say the main issue is the room temperature an the sole passenger lift - old style gate entry and if someone leaves the lift door open on another floor it won't work; I guess they are limited with hotel of this age and character as to what they can do. We tried sleeping with french door open but traffic noise precluded that. Thankfully we had portable fans with us so used those. I couldn't rate this hotel 5 stars at all.

A great base for weary travelers

We stayed at the Hotel Diplomat 5 nights over two stays in July during the heat wave. When we arrived we learned that the elevator was out of order -- and our room on the 6th floor. Staff quickly assured us that the repair team was on the way, and in the meantime we could use the service elevator. Whew! The two rooms we had were clean, well appointed and very comfortable. Fortunately we could throw the windows open at night, and the rooms had blackout curtains so we were able to sleep when the sun came up at 3AM. We appreciated that the staff hurried to ready a room for us when we first arrived at 10AM -- a wonderful service for travelers who have just traveled 20 hours. Front desk staff were always helpful and quick to identify a need. Victoria and Morgan were especially welcoming and had good suggestions for activities. We ate in both the restaurant and the bistro and both had good service and excellent food. I hope we can return some day.

First visit to Stockholm

Sat Aug 09 2025 08:17:42 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by charleskF3879HY

Overall, a comfortable stay at a traditional style hotel. Without exception, the staff were warm and friendly and keen to help. We had a comfortable bed and a choice of three pillows to meet personal comforts. The underfloor heating in the bathroom added to the comfort factor, however climbing into the high bath to take a shower. was not the easiest I might be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues. there were two steps between the entrance and the bedroom area which may have been a necessary creation when the hotel was modernised? The elevator was small but functional. On exiting the elevator there were two steps to get to corridor level – this and the steps in the room, would make wheelchair access difficult without assistance. The location of this hotel is perfect for a first time visit to Stockholm. It is easily accessed overlooking the harbour and the Meny ferries to take you to exhibitions, museums and islands. Multiple shopping options are a short walk away and public transport seems well integrated. Visitors who are unused to cycle lanes need to have raised awareness when crossing roads to get to a pedestrian walkway bikes and E scooters are moving at some speed! Overall a comfortable stay in a traditional style hotel.

A disappointing stay

Fri Aug 08 2025 12:14:28 GMT+0000 (Coordinated Universal Time) by IsabelleR2529

Our stay at the Diplomat left us disappointed. The front desk was very under staffed, the elevator did not work, the shower was not great. On the plus side: the location is great and the restaurant staff is very helpful.
