I was very disappointed with the hotel. First, it takes so long to check in. I am not sure why it takes so long to give you a room when they didn’t even have much explanation of the hotel and its amenities. We had a room in the new part of the hotel Casa Luna. Starting at 10 am, loud drilling started. It felt like a jack hammer was actually in my room. When I called information, it took them forever to connect me to someone at front desk. Initially, they told me that they will give me another room, but I had to pack all my stuff and check out of my room by noon then wait til 4 pm to get my new room! When I argued that it was unacceptable, they agreed to give me a different room right away. I was told to go to the front desk to get a new key programmed into my bracelet. When I went to the front desk, they said there was no record of the new room that was offered! So I had to argue again for 30 min before they finally agreed to give me a different room. The new room in the older part of the hotel was better. However on one of the days, the hotel cleaning staff took away our dishes from room service but didn’t make our bed or refill amenities. But they remembered to take the tip left for house cleaning. We had to complain and they cleaned our room “again.” Finally, we paid $150 for late check in til 3 pm. We had to go to the front lobby to reprogram our bracelet for the late checkout. However, our bracelet still didnt work for late checkout, and I had to walk all the way back to the front lobby to get it programmed again. They even told me to stand in a long line of people checking into the hotel to reprogram my bracelet when it was their fault that it wasn’t working and I was starting to be late for my airport shuttle. It was soooo difficult to reach anyone over the phone. I had to walk to lobby if I needed anything and there is always a huge line. Food was just ok at the buffets. Las Cuevas had no AC and it was very hot Excursions for cenotes and Xplorer were fun. I would suggest staying somewhere else and book these excursions separately. My other friends who stayed at casa Luna sometimes did not get any housecleaning and at times would get there at 8 pm!!!

Service is terrible for a hotel at this price level (~$1200/night). Actually, it would be considered bad even for a cheap hotel. For example, I called the phone number listed on their website before arriving 3 times trying to book dinner/park reservations. Once I hang up after on hold for more than an hour, and twice I got disconnected from the phone after waiting for 3+ hours each time. If you speak Spanish, I heard it's easier to get someone to answer the phone. Additionally, even in the hotel, you don't always get someone to answer the call when you call from your room. Hotel itself was beautifully decorated and their Parks and Tours are pretty good. However, there are too many negatives for me to consider going back, we declined the timeshare sales call and return trip offer for $700/night (2 adults + 2 kids) for 5 nights.

My wife and I went to Xcaret hotel for our 30th anniversary. WE were a bit hesitant as this was September 2021 during the c0v!d craziness. Out side of the annoyance of wearing masks when in public common areas close to other people, this was truly a magical experience. Everything was delightful and enjoyable. We are both in our 60's and usually quite adventurous if not always physically up to a 5 mile hike. We zip-lined, swam and kayaked in the cenotes, did the SNUBA, did the ZIP-bike at Xel-Ha, snorkeled, and just sometimes sat in the many pools or by the 'Lazy River' at the hotel. Everything was better than expected. We were treated like royalty. Planning a return trip in 2026.
