Best all-inclusive resort we've stayed at..it truly felt like a 5 star experience from the moment we arrived with our personal concierge Jose. Very relaxing & our room was close to everything while still feeling completely private. Our boys 8 & 11 loved the teens club (they allow all ages until 9pm) where they played ping-pong, foosball, and pool along with video games. The ambassador pool was lively with games/activities, but we also really enjoyed the more private pool area at Zen. The resort is beautiful and never felt crowded at all...lounge chairs at the pool were always readily available (no need to wake up early & reserve your chairs like other resorts) and the service at the pool is excellent. Even though steak tacos are not on the pool menu, they will make them for you if you request it =) The beach is beautiful (no large chunks of seaweed everywhere like other Cancún beaches) and although we did not swim at the beach, we saw multiple people there enjoying the water. The food at the restaurants was the best I've had at an all-inclusive, but in my opinion, still not as good as regular high-end restaurants at hotels that are not all inclusive.

An amazing holiday. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and are willing to do anything to make it better each day. Jeronimo was such a welcoming concierge who made sure everything was perfect - nothing was too much. Thank you. Special mention to Jorg at the pool for remembering our drinks and bringing a great vibe xx

We are a family of 4 (2x teenagers) who just got back from a week at Grand Velas Riviera Maya last week. Like our first time there 5 years ago, we had an exceptional experience. We were delighted to be upgraded from Zen to Grand Class and savoured each moment of the experience. Upgrade aside though, the real secret sauce is the Grand Velas Team - without exception, each team member we interacted with during the week provided the highest level of service, genuine friendliness and a real pride in their work and the Resort. The level of detail in the service remains unmatched in any all-inclusive we have gone to (we've been to Mexico 6 times in the past 10 years). One example is that each time we walk by the reception/lobby desk, all the employees stand up to greet us as we walk by - we felt bad about them having to do this, and almost mentioned to them that they didn't have to do that each time - but this is an example of the meticulous detail of the service. Too many names to mention but we will recognize our concierge, Daniela, Mario at the Zen Pool (who is doing the concierge training) and Francisco at Bistro -- they are all exceptional. Although the resort is now nearing 19 years old, the Ambassador and Grand Class areas have been "refreshed" and are fairly modern, while I expect that the Zen area is due for modernization soon. Having said that, Zen remains unmatched as the ambiance of choice if you want quiet contemplative peace (we did - and we spent most days at the Zen pool - which is our favourite - lush and surrounded by jungle/mangroves - it is an oasis within an oasis) - the only recommendation being to watch out for the mosquitoes - we were fortunately to see 2 deer near the Zen pool chilling, in addition the usual menagerie of coatis, iguanas, turtles and tropical birds. Food is very important to us in an all-inclusive. Piaf and Frida were exceptional (we ate twice at each during our week) - the beef fillet at Frida is unbelievable. We also enjoyed Cocina de Autor with our 13/15 year olds - but note that it really depends on how open your teenagers are to the tasting menu - our overall impression of Cocina de Autor was that technical execution and presentation of the food was top notch although, subjectively, the flavour profiles on the evening we attended were not our favourite. Lucca and Sen Lin are what you would expect - very good for an all-inclusive restaurant but I would rate Piaf and Frida ahead of these 2. We also enjoyed the convenience of Amat for coffee/snacks - don't recall it being there 5 years ago. We did the bike tour on property (the mosquitoes are hungry at the cenote near Zen - be warned), the morning yoga and the aquacise - we enjoyed all those activities. We also had the hydrotherapy course included in our package - really enjoyed that as well. Thanks to the whole team at Grand Velas - your pride in your work and Resort shine through.
