Just got back from 7 nights at Almar , so pleased with this hotel from start to finish. We used this as a base so we could visit Venice , Murano and Burano . Excellent pool facilities and the spa was a real bonus. Super clean and awesome breakfast. Would highly recommend and the bikes were great we used them every day . You can’t check in until 3 pm ( we got in around 12.30 pm . ) we took our swim gear and made use of the pool and spa on arrival. Drinks are expensive but the supermarket wasn’t far away so we used both . The nice thing about this hotel was its at the start of the strip so nice and quiet , we found a lovely restaurant every night on the strip and wasn’t disappointed and of course a gelato to finish in the walk home

Great stay at Almar this July. Excellent and friendly staff across the board - from reception area, restaurant, room service, the beach…. Great breakfast and prompt service at the restaurant. Will definitely return!

This was my third time staying at this resort and this was a mixed bag. Last year I wasn’t able to check in right away because admittedly I arrived early but I hung out by the pool and had a couple of glasses of Prosecco until about 2:30 when I was shown to my room which was upgraded from a lateral sea view to full sea view and was greeted with a bottle of Prosecco and fruit plate because of my iPrefer status. This year was a decidedly different arrival experience. Started with the fact that the airport transfer I arranged through the hotel was not on time. My flight arrived a bit early and I had to wait I think 30 minutes (I was tired so don’t exactly remember). I was frankly worried I would have to take a taxi so that made me a bit anxious and frankly grumpy from the get go. Can’t really fault the hotel for this but a transfer service should monitor flight status- isn’t that why they ask for your flight info after all? As expected when I arrived my room wasn’t ready but I was prepared this time and had my swimsuit and poolside items accessible to spend time by the pool. However, when I asked about a room upgrade because of my iPrefer status…denied. Told the hotel was fully booked. Fine. A couple of hours later after spending time in the full on sun (because all sunbeds with an umbrella were occupied) and several dips in the pool I went to reception to politely ask if there was an estimated time for my room to be ready. I was sternly told checkout is 12, my room will not be ready until 3. I understand if a room is not ready early but the attitude was off putting to say the least. A manager at some point came up to me maybe seeing I was not thoroughly enjoying myself, and I told her my experience. She seemed empathetic and ordered a complimentary glass of Prosecco for me. I was able to check in a bit prior to 3 pm but when I got escorted to my room, no welcome Prosecco and fruit, so I asked for it referencing that it is an iPrefer perk. That seemed to confuse the woman who showed me my room. I had to call down and ask for it again, but it did eventually come. Now for the positives- the rooms are clean, spacious and well appointed. I don’t recall the bathroom toiletries last year but they changed the brand and now have included conditioner and I absolutely love the fragrance! The resort is beautiful and the beach and pool are fantastic. The workout room is picturesque (albeit warm, and warmer than previous stays, because, well, it was very hot) and there are still complimentary wellness sessions on offer but more limited. I missed having Sveva as the instructor but my Pilates session was very good. And the spa is a very nice space and Josephine who performed my services both days was amazing. The breakfast is actually pretty impressive and I don’t normally partake on vacation but it’s included and they offer up bubbly. A vast selection of fruit, nuts, cereals, breads, eggs, meat, cheese, you name it. And you can’t beat sitting poolside to enjoy a nice breakfast. I was on the fence on arrival day about returning but I think I will but with tempered expectations around service. And I would recommend for those wanting a nice beach, pool, and spa resort.

Lovely hotel staff are all very nice and friendly. With the exception of one who when asked if they had mint tea was thrown and didn’t understand so for the rest of breakfast he avoided us, but asked the other tables if they needed anything. Rooms are cleaned and turned down every day. The downside for us The rooms were very warm approaching end of may , and the heat is set to 22 .I asked about why the air-con wasn’t working reception said they were holding off with it but turned of the heat , and suggested open doors. but to be honest this was not a cheap holiday package we had paid £2k for a week B&B so the air con would have been nice. Especially since we are now about 20 mosquito bites in each . The location is at the very end of a long road nice quiet location with restaurants not to far away and the complimentary bikes are a good positive if you fancy getting around as they have very good cycle paths. Weather has not been great but i am sure in the hight of summer the are will be very busy judging by the amount of sun umbrella’s. 4*
