Montage Laguna Beach’s two restaurants and lounge celebrate local ingredients and global flavors. In-room dining or a private meal are always available as well.
Unwind with a yoga class — styles range from mindful meditation to power yoga — or work out with a personal trainer at the oceanfront gym. Head to Spa Montage Laguna Beach for a replenishing marine mineral wrap or a therapeutic mineral bath, or simply hang out in the eucalyptus steam rooms, dry redwood saunas, ocean-air whirlpools, fireplace lounges, or adults-only lap pool. Finish with a blow dry in the salon. If you have kids aged 2 to 12, sign them up for Montage’s renowned Paintbox program, which offers arts and crafts, creative games, and outdoor adventures.
Head to the beach to snorkel around the coves and explore nearby tidal pools, or spend the morning or afternoon paddleboarding or surfing. Sign up for a guided kayak tour to Seal Rock, home to hundreds of California sea lions, or venture out on a dolphin- and whale-watching tour. Set sail on a romantic sunset cruise, or fish for barracuda while on a private or group fishing charter. Shop for luxury fashion at sophisticated, fun spots like South Coast Plaza and stroll through Laguna Beach’s contemporary art galleries and downtown boutiques.
Perched on a bluff above the Pacific Ocean, Montage Laguna Beach is moments from Treasure Island Beach and a gateway to some of the most beautiful beaches in Orange County, all of which have their own unique charms. The 30-acre resort is also a convenient base to explore downtown Laguna Beach, home to more than 90 art galleries.

Overall, the Montage was a big disappointment. The property is dated. The jackhammering is comic. The hotel was mostly empty (because others were too smart to visit during the time of jackhammering). When checking into a mostly empty hotel that is under such duress, management would be wise to upgrade the room. No such wisdom. The shower was smaller than a small porta potty. The absurdly high resort fee is a joke when half the resort is under construction. A holiday inn express would be nicer at one tenth the price.

Ah, the allure of a luxury hotel—promises of tranquility, the soft hum of a spa fountain, and the occasional chirp of a bird as I sip overpriced cocktails by the pool. That was the dream. The reality? Imagine a construction site, but with a concierge. From the moment I arrived, I should have known I was in for an unforgettable experience—mostly because I’ll be dealing with PTSD from the constant jackhammering for months to come. It turns out my "peaceful escape" was actually an all-access pass to Hard Hat Hell, where the soothing sounds of waves are replaced by the symphony of pneumatic drills and backup alarms. The hotel, in its infinite wisdom, neglected to mention that it was undergoing what I can only assume is reconstruction from a meteor impact. Every inch of the place was in shambles, like an abandoned mall trying to relaunch itself as a warzone-themed attraction. The Poolside Paradise (or, the Dust Bowl of Despair) I had envisioned reclining by a crystal-clear pool, book in one hand, cocktail in the other. What I got was an Olympic-level obstacle course of tarps, scaffolding, and the unmistakable scent of wet cement. Instead of soft lounge music, the background soundtrack was BEEP BEEP BEEP followed by the roar of a cement mixer. I couldn’t even hear my own existential crisis over the chaos. The Spa (Closed for "Enhancements" – a.k.a. Total Destruction) Ah yes, the spa—my sacred sanctuary of peace, my temple of relaxation, my one salvation. Or so I thought. Upon inquiring about a massage, I was informed that all spa services had been suspended indefinitely due to "ongoing improvements." Improvements? Unless you're replacing my stress with a small personal butler whose sole job is to carry my emotional baggage, I’m not interested. My Luxury Room (Featuring Complimentary Seismic Tremors) After a long day of dodging falling debris, I retreated to my luxury suite, where the walls vibrated with such force I considered calling a priest for an exorcism. I wasn't sure if the building was shaking due to the relentless drilling or if I had just developed a stress-induced neurological condition. Sleep? Oh no, no, no. Every morning at 7 AM, like some twisted alarm clock from hell, the relentless pounding would begin anew. I was up before the sun, feeling like a minor character in Mad Max: The Demolition Chronicles. Final Thoughts (And Pleas for Mercy) To sum up, if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway, I highly recommend literally anywhere else on Earth. If, however, you have always dreamed of experiencing a high-end construction zone simulator with the added benefit of overpriced room service, this is the place for you! One star—only because I didn’t actually die. Though, at times, I wished I had.

Our bartender Daniel was absolutely fabulous!!!! He made our night and we will definitely be coming back. It is hands down best place to spend a birthday. The Montage is classy, elegant, clean and has live music during every day of the week. We came during the evening and loved every second.

The Montage is stunningly beautiful and the entire staff was so kind. We really loved the piano player Steve and we had this amazing bartender named Daniel who made us these amazing cocktails based off our favorite liquors! They were incredible!

This is a wonderful hotel. its beautifully situated on the Laguna coast right above rock out croppings. The facilities and room are immaculate. But it's the service that really sets them above their competitors. You will never be served in plastic or paper. The rooms still have beautiful coffee and tea cups and real glasses in the bathroom. The rooms still have bathrobes and beautiful shampoos and products. They do not charge you extra for your bath salts and room service is 24/7 delivered with fresh flowers. You get the drift :) I LOVED it. Best employee experience--Israel in room service is like a ray of sunshine.
