The 57 guestrooms and suites are rendered in tones of taupe and cream, with pretty botanical-print cushions and plenty of natural light. Bathrooms feature monochrome floor tiles, a deep tub, and a separate rain shower. Snuggle up on a window seat, or stretch out on a sun-drenched terrace overlooking the tranquil garden with its majestic oak and magnolia trees.
If you’re celebrating a special occasion, or just want to spoil yourself, opt for the north-facing Executive suite with views of Helderberg Mountain. After a day’s hiking or vineyard-hopping, you can relax on your private terrace with a glass of wine or, in the cooler months, retire for a nightcap by the roaring fire.
The Western Cape is renowned for its world-class food and wine, so it is no surprise that Erinvale Estate Hotel & Spa offers fabulous fare. Enjoy relaxed yet refined farm-to-table dining at Seventeen07, along with comfort food and conviviality at Skelligs, the Irish-style gastropub.
Seventeen07 – The signature restaurant is elegantly outfitted with emerald-green velvet chairs, starched white tablecloths, and polished wooden floors. Look forward to a prix fixe menu, where seasonally-changing dishes may include white tomato soup, beef fillet and creamy dauphinoise potatoes, and decadent chocolate shiraz torte. You can also stop by for a hearty breakfast and Sunday lunch buffet.
Skelligs Pub – Pull up a red leather stool at the mahogany bar, or grab a table on the terrace overlooking the pool, and enjoy a pint of two of the black stuff at this relaxed, Irish-themed pub. Open daily for lunch and dinner, tuck into pub classics such as steak and Guinness pie, and fish and chips, or lighter options like Greek salad or steamed mussels.
Take time out in the Erinvale Estate Spa, which has an outdoor pool and an indoor relaxation area with a steam room and heated whirlpool. If you’re into golf, book tee time at Erinvale Golf Course — hotels guests receive preferential rates, and the immaculately kept greens and fairways, backed by rugged mountains and with sweeping views over False Bay — will blow you away. Beyond Erinvale, you can also play a round at renowned courses such as Stellenbosch, De Zalze, Arabella, Devonvale, and Pearl Valley.
Head out into the surrounding Cape Winelands, where you’ll discover rolling vineyards, historic homesteads, and some of the country’s best wines. Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Wellington, and Paarl are the most popular wine routes, and the Somerset West Winelands boast three different routes. Hike along trails surrounding the estate, go mountain biking on graded routes at Helderberg Farm, and swim, surf, or sail at Strand beach and Gordon’s Bay. If you are up for a day trip, drive an hour or so to the seaside town of Hermanus where you can spot Southern Right Whales from the shore from June to September.
