Renowned Museums, Gardens, & Theatres
Nemours Mansion: We adore the estate tours thanks to the sunken gardens and reflecting pool (both as cool as they sound). However, it’s the bowling alley in the “man cave” that makes the mansion our favorite stop. More info here.
Longwood Gardens: This is not your typical garden. Longwood is home to more than 1,000 acres of plants and woodlands. From fireworks and fountain shows (we told you it’s not your typical garden) to year-round performances in The Exhibition Hall, there’s always something unique to see or do. More info here.
The Playhouse on Rodney Square: “Delaware's Broadway Experience” is just steps from your room at the oldest continually operating theatre in the country (it goes way back to 1913). The famed theatre welcomes national Broadway performances, comedies, and concerts to its Victorian-style 1,252-seat digs.
Winterthur Museum and Gardens: Snap a pic in front of the tulip tree house in the Enchanted Woods and admire a doll house display (more like a 6-foot-tall mansion) that took more than 30 years to create. The former estate of the du Pont family will have the littles ones (and you) captivated for hours. More info here.
